The Whittenburg family told KOCO 5 that their corgi, Ace, went missing, and someone took him to the police station. They later said police told them that an officer shot and killed their dog.
After learning of the alleged shooting, the family said the officer involved told them everything, saying he told them he shot their family pet.
“They didn’t even try to look for the owner. He didn’t try at all,” said McKenzie Tucker, a member of the Whittenburg family.
Hennessey officials have not shared details yet, only saying on Thursday that "the officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while we conduct our internal investigation." KOCO 5 has since learned that the officer has resigned.
"I want for it to come to a resolution as soon as possible," Hennessey police Chief Aaron Pitts said on Thursday.
