Hennessey Police Chief Aaron Pitts said this is an incident they’re hoping to resolve soon but wouldn’t share many details.
The Whittenburg family said their corgi, Ace, went missing, and someone took him to the police station. They later said they were told by police that an officer shot and killed their dog.
After learning of the alleged shooting, the family said the officer involved told them everything, saying he told them he shot their family pet.
But the city isn’t sharing these details yet, only saying the “officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while we conduct our internal investigation.”
“They didn’t even try to look for the owner. He didn’t try at all,” Mckenzie Tucker, a family member of the Whittenburg’s, said.
“I want for it to come to a resolution as soon as possible,” Pitts said.
