The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office says the investigation is expected to continue, and charges can be refiled.

The Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office has dropped charges against a man accused of killing two people at a Del City laundromat in 2017. The DA's office dismissed four charges, including two for first-degree murder, against Roshaun Jones. He was accused of killing 42-year-old Nekia Jackson and 60-year-old Russ Roberts on Jan. 23, 2017, at the Laundry Station near Southeast 15th Street and Sunnylane Road. >> Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here.Court documents from 2017 claim an employee told investigators that Jones was unhappy that Jackson had fired a certain employee. The conversation reportedly happened three days before the deadly shooting. A news release states that the decision to dismiss Jones' charges came before the case was set to go to trial on Sept. 9. "This case has had numerous unforeseeable roadblocks including the retirement of a judge, the deaths of the lead detective and a public defender representing Jones, the covid pandemic and a new prosecuting team being assigned the case after the election of a new District Attorney," the news release states. >> Download the KOCO 5 AppWhile charges have been dismissed, the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office said the case is not closed. Also, Jones will not be released from prison as he's serving a 15-year sentence in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for five drug-related charges that he pleaded guilty to in October 2023. The investigation is expected to continue, and charges can be refiled. District Attorney Vicki Zemp Behenna's office said they cannot release specifics on why the charges were dropped because the case hasn't been closed.
