BUT IN THE MEANTIME, FIRE INVESTIGATORS ARE LOOKING INTO IT, AND SO ARE POLICE. EMERGENCY LIGHTS, A BURNED HOME, AND A WHOLE LOT OF QUESTIONS FOR INVESTIGATORS. ALL AFTER THIS NIGHT LONG CRIME SCENE IN WHAT PEOPLE LIVING HERE SAY IS OTHERWISE A QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD. CALLING PARTY STATED THAT A MAN HAD SWUNG A KNIFE AT HIM AND TOOK OFF DOWN THE STREET. SO WHEN WE ARRIVED, HE WAS BACK IN THIS DRIVEWAY. THE MAN WHO LIVES IN THAT HOME NEAR 33RD STREET AND BRYAN AVENUE WAS SHOT BY OFFICERS. POLICE HAVE NOT TOLD US HIS CONDITION DURING THE INCIDENT. POLICE SAY THE MAN THREATENED NEIGHBORS WITH A KNIFE, AND KOCO HAS LEARNED THIS SITUATION HERE ISN’T HIS FIRST RUN IN WITH NEIGHBORS. LAST THURSDAY, A NEIGHBOR FILED THIS VICTIM PROTECTION ORDER. SHE SAID THE MAN WALKED FAST TO HER DOOR, TRIED TO ENTER, YELLING AT THE HOUSEKEEPER, YELLING THE HOMEOWNER’S NAME. HER DEAD HUSBAND’S NAME, AND CLAIMING SHE KILLED HIM. THAT HOUSEKEEPER FOUGHT WITH HIM TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND DIALED 911. THEY TRESPASSED HIM. THREE DAYS LATER, HE RETURNED AND KNOCKED AGAIN. SHE WASN’T HOME THAT TIME EITHER AND ASKED FOR THE PROTECTIVE ORDER. THAT WOMAN WROTE SHE FELT TERRIFIED FOR HER AND HER GRANDCHILDREN’S SAFETY. WHICH BRINGS US TO OVERNIGHT TUESDAY, A DIFFERENT NEIGHBOR CALLS IN THE FIRE AT THE MAN’S HOME, NOTING HE WAS WAVING A KNIFE AND ACTING ERRATICALLY. HE CORNERS THE MAN WITH A GUN ALL WHILE HIS WIFE GOES NEXT DOOR TO MAKE SURE OTHERS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARE SAFE. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION, BUT PRELIMINARY REPORTS SHOW IT STARTED SOMEWHERE IN THE FRONT AREA OF THE HOME AND AS FAR AS THE INVESTIGATION GOES, WE’RE HERE AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
