SHE’S BREAKING DOWN THE TIMELINE OF EVENTS. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. POLICE INSIDE PULLING OUT EVIDENCE FROM THE HOME. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL NEIGHBORS WHO SAY THEY’VE HAD A LONG HISTORY WITH THE HOMEOWNER AND OUR NEIGHBORS. ESSENTIALLY, THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND THEY RISKED THEIR LIVES TO COME ACROSS THE STREET AND TO WAKE US UP BECAUSE THEY KNEW WE HAD BABIES. I’M SORRY. DISTURBING AND COMPLICATED. THOSE ARE TWO WORDS USED TO DESCRIBE THE SCENE IN THIS EDMOND NEIGHBORHOOD. IT ALL STARTED WITH A HOUSE FIRE. THIS HOUSE WAS ON FIRE. HE WAS IN THE STREET. IT WAS A VERY UNSURE SITUATION. SORRY. OFF CAMERA. ONE NEIGHBOR SAYS THE HOMEOWNER SWUNG AT THEM WITH A KNIFE, FORCING THEM TO PULL OUT A GUN IN PROTECTION. SHORTLY AFTER POLICE AND FIRE ARRIVED, FIRE FOCUSING ON THE FLAMES WHILE POLICE DEALT WITH THE HOMEOWNER, THEY ENCOUNTERED THE INDIVIDUAL IN HIS DRIVEWAY. AND THAT’S WHEN SHOTS WERE FIRED. THE HOMEOWNER WAS SHOT AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. NEIGHBORS SAY IT’S BEEN A LONG ROAD. HE’S HAD A HISTORY OF TEN YEARS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS. AS FAR AS I’M AWARE OF SEVERAL OF THOSE LIVING NEARBY SAY POLICE HAVE BEEN CALLED SEVERAL TIMES. AT LEAST THREE TIMES. JUST THIS WEEK. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL WELFARE CHECKS CALLED IN ON HIM, BUT THEY CANNOT TAKE ACTION UNTIL HE’S HARMED SOMEONE OR HIMSELF. AND SO I THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO LOOK AT THE SYSTEM AND ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE. AND THIS MORNING IT ESCALATED. NEIGHBORS HOPE THIS MEANS CHANGE IS COMING TO THIS MOSTLY QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD. I WOULD JUST HOPE FOR HELP FOR HIM AND SAFETY FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS IS A WONDERFUL PLACE TO LIVE. WE HAVE VERY CARING NEIGHBORS WHO HAVE TRIED TO HELP THIS MAN. MANY TIMES, AND IT HELPE
