Authorities say a 50-year-old Oklahoma City man died a day after a near drowning at Lake Thunderbird sent him to a hospital.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states that Curtis Kaanapo was swimming at the Little Axe swim beach around 2:30 p.m. on Monday when he started to struggle and asked for help. A bystander pulled Kaanapo to shore, where CPR was started until park rangers and EMS arrived.
Kaanapo was admitted to Norman Regional Hospital in critical condition. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the 50-year-old man died shortly before 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
