LET’S SEND IT OVER TO THE SPORTS TEAM FOR CRASHING THE BOARDS. EVERYBODY, WELCOME INTO THE SHOW TONIGHT. I’M BRYAN KEATING ALONGSIDE HANNAH HOOVER. IT IS TIME FOR CRASHING THE BOARDS AFTER WEEK ONE IN THE BOOKS FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL. WAS IT EVERYTHING YOU WANTED? IT TO BE? IT REALLY WAS. I HAD A GREAT TIME. I’M NOT GOING TO LIE TO YOU. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN. I DID TOO. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE FOOTBALL ON TELEVISION. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE FOOTBALL IN NORMAN AND IN STILLWATER. WE’LL GET TO THE WEEK THAT WAS. BUT I WANT TO START WITH THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS. ROLL THE VIDEO. WHO WERE AT HOME ON A FRIDAY NIGHT FOR THE SEASON OPENER FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. AND EVERYBODY WANTED TO SEE JACKSON ARNOLD PLAY. RIGHT. 141 YARDS PASSING THROUGH THOSE FOUR TOUCHDOWNS. SO HE WAS VERY EFFICIENT. DEION BURKS WAS A STAR. HE SCORED THREE TIMES FOR OKLAHOMA. AND BRANT VENABLES VERY PLEASED. FIRST TIME EVER A SOONER PLAYER HAS CAUGHT THREE TOUCHDOWNS IN HIS IN HIS DEBUT AND AND AGAIN FOR FOR JACKSON THROWING HIM THE BALL THAT WAS FOUR TOUCHDOWNS FOR JACKSON. THAT’S THE MOST IN A FIRST CAREER HOME START FOR AN OKLAHOMA PLAYER SINCE 1999. BUT AGAIN, DEION DID FANTASTIC. DEION DID EXACTLY WHAT HE’S DONE SINCE HE’S BEEN HERE. HE’S HE’S EXPLOSIVE. YOU KNOW HE MAKES THINGS HAPPEN. HE KNOWS HOW TO GET OPEN. AND HE’S REALLY REALLY COMPETITIVE. AND SO IT WAS GOOD TO GET HIM GOING TONIGHT. YEAH DEION BURKS WAS AWESOME. OBVIOUSLY HE WAS THE STAR OF THE SPRING GAME. HE WAS THE STAR OF THE FIRST GAME. YOU WERE AT MEMORIAL STADIUM ON FRIDAY NIGHT. WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT OKLAHOMA AND WHAT DID YOU EXPECT. WELL IT WAS A LOT OF FUN. LIKE I MENTIONED, I EXPECTED FOR THERE TO BE A LOT OF GAME MANAGEMENT GOING ON FROM JACKSON ARNOLD, AND THAT’S WHAT WE SAW. NOTHING TOO FANCY, BUT EVERYTHING THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE WAS DONE RIGHT. THEY DIDN’T HAVE TO DO JUST A TON TO BEAT TEMPLE. AND SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, I THINK JACKSON ARNOLD DID A FANTASTIC JOB. 141 YARDS, FOUR TOUCHDOWNS. HE USED HIS LEGS. HE WAS CONSISTENT. AND THAT’S ALL YOU CAN REALLY ASK FOR IN A GAME LIKE THAT. AND AND I THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT TO SEE SOME OF THE BACKUPS, LIKE MICHAEL HAWKINS, GET SOME TIME AS WELL, BECAUSE YOU NEED THAT DEPTH ON A, ON A ROSTER IN THE SEC. THERE’S NO QUESTION ABOUT IT, ESPECIALLY AT QUARTERBACK. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE GOT. AND JACKSON WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE HAWKINS PLAYED WELL. TATUM RAN THE BALL VERY WELL. I THINK FOR OKLAHOMA. LOOK THE NUMBERS ARE GREAT 51 TO 3 I THINK THEY PLAYED SOLID. IT WAS A GOOD START, UNSPECTACULAR IN A LOT OF WAYS. YOU DIDN’T SEE THE BIG JUST EXPLOSIVE PLAYS. IT WAS A GOOD START. I THINK THE THINGS WHERE I THINK YOU ARE MUCH BETTER THAN THE TEAM THAT YOU PLAY, THEY’RE MUCH BETTER THAN TEMPLE, RIGHT? THEY WERE ALL THEY COULD KIND OF PICK THEIR SCORE, HOW THEY WANTED THAT TO GO. IN A LOT OF WAYS. BUT SEVEN PENALTIES IS NOT GREAT. OKLAHOMA WAS NEAR THE BOTTOM IN THE COUNTRY IN PENALTY YARDAGE PER GAME LAST SEASON. SO I’D LOVE TO SEE THAT CLEANED UP A LITTLE BIT. BUT FOR A FIRST GAME AGAINST A TEAM THAT THEY KNEW THEY WERE A WHOLE LOT BETTER, THEY TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS, ACT LIKE YOU’VE BEEN THERE, ACT LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING, LINE UP PROPERLY AGAIN, TOO MANY PENALTIES. BUT I THINK BURKE’S JUMPS OFF THE PAGE CLEARLY OKLAHOMA WAS GOOD, UNSPECTACULAR IN SOME WAYS, BUT A GOOD START FOR THE SOONERS. AND WHEN THE GAMES ARE GOING TO GET OBVIOUSLY MUCH MORE DIFFICULT. BUT A GOOD START FOR OKLAHOMA. SO HERE’S WHAT’S COMING UP NEXT FOR THE SOONERS. THEY ARE BACK AT HOME ON SATURDAY NIGHT. WE GET A SATURDAY NIGHT GAME AT MEMORIAL STADIUM WHERE YOU GOT THE BIG 12 AND THE HOUSTON COUGARS COMING TO TOWN UNDER THE LIGHTS AGAIN. SO I KNOW YOU FANS ARE TIRED OF PLAYING OR THEY HAD BEEN TIRED OF PLAYING 11:00 IN THE MORNING. NO. 11:00 GAMES HERE. WE GOT UNDER THE LIGHTS TWO WEEKENDS IN A ROW AT MEMORIAL STADIUM. SO AS WE LOOK AHEAD TO HOUSTON COMING UP THIS WEEKEND, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE FROM OKLAHOMA? BECAUSE THEY WERE GOOD. THIS WEEK. BUT YOU GOT TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE. YOU WANT TO SEE THEM. YOU KNOW, DO MORE OFFENSIVELY. THEY JUST DIDN’T HAVE OPPORTUNITIES AGAINST TEMPLE. THERE WASN’T A LOT OF YARDAGE TO GAIN. THEY DIDN’T HAVE TO PUSH IT DOWN THE FIELD. I’D LIKE TO SEE THEM PUSH IT DOWN THE FIELD. OFFENSIVELY SPEAKING, I DO WANT TO MENTION THERE IS A LOSS OF BRANSON HICKMAN, WHO IS THE CENTER. THAT’S A QUESTION MARK AS WELL AS JALAL FAROOQ, WHICH IS A HUGE TARGET. SO KIND OF SEEING HOW THEY NAVIGATE THOSE CHANGES OR, YOU KNOW, FORCE CHANGES IF YOU WILL. I LIKE TO WILLIE FRITZ, THE HEAD COACH AT U OF H. HE’S TURNED AROUND A LOT OF PROGRAMS. I DON’T KNOW THAT HE CAN TURN AROUND A PROGRAM IN SIX MONTHS. HOUSTON’S GOOD. I DON’T KNOW. WE’LL SEE. THAT’S A QUESTION MARK. IS HOUSTON GOOD? NO, THEY’RE NOT GOOD. THEY LOST. THEY LOST TO UNLV IN BLOWOUT FASHION ON SATURDAY. SO THE ANSWER IS NO. OU IS GOING TO BE A LOT BETTER THAN THEM. BUT I DIDN’T MEAN TO INTERRUPT. NO YOU’RE GOOD. NO. KEEP GOING. I’M GOING TO WRITE SOMETHING DOWN WHILE YOU GO OKAY. SO HERE’S WHAT I THINK FOR OKLAHOMA. AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I’D LIKE TO SEE THEM FIND RUNNING BACK ONE BECAUSE I’M NOT SURE THAT GAVIN SAWCHUK IS YOUR EXPLOSIVE GUY. HE’S A GOOD PLAYER. JAVONTE BARNES WE’VE HEARD A LOT ABOUT IN THE OFF SEASON WAS FINE. BUT YOU KNOW, THOSE GUYS SAW SIX CARRIES, 15 YARDS. BARNES FIVE CARRIES 33 YARDS. IS THEIR RUNNING BACK ONE TAYLOR TATUM WHO’S THE FRESHMAN FIVE CARRIES FOR 69 YARDS I DON’T KNOW I JUST KNOW I THINK THEY’RE FINE AT THE RUNNING BACK POSITION WIDE RECEIVER WISE I THINK THEY’RE EXPLOSIVE. A TON OF PLAYMAKERS. BUT I THINK THEY’RE STILL LOOKING FOR RUNNING BACK ONE. SO CAN YOU FIND YOUR LEAD BELL COW DOG AND BEGIN TO FIND WHO THAT’S GOING TO BE AS WE HEAD INTO THE SEC? I, I’M NOT SURE THAT THEY HAVE THAT GUY YET. YEAH, I WASN’T GOING TO GIVE A PREDICTION, BUT I THINK I’M GOING TO I’M GOING TO JUST SAY, OH, YOU BUY 20 HERE JUST TO PUT THIS OUT HERE. THE REASON IS BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, YOU CAN’T UNDERESTIMATE ANY TEAM. SURE. IT’S STILL A BIG 12 SCHOOL. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN. THAT’S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME IS WHAT THEY SAY. BUT I WILL GIVE THE PREDICTION. OH YOU BUY 20 HERE OKAY I WASN’T PREPARED. I’M GOING. IF YOU’RE GOING TO DO THAT. OH YOU BUY 40 OKAY. THEY’RE GOING TO WIN BY AS MANY AS HOUSTON IS NOT GOOD OKLAHOMA IS GOING TO BE FINE. OH YOU BLOWING IT. JUST GET BETTER I MEAN OKAY THAT’S WHAT THIS PART OF THE SCHEDULE YOU JUST GET BETTER BECAUSE YOUR GAMES START GETTING IMPORTANT. SIMILARLY OR SIMILAR TO THIS TEMPLE GAME, YOU THINK THEY CAN JUST BLOW IT OUT LIKE THAT? NO QUESTION. I THINK HOUSTON IS VERY PREDICTION I LOVE IT. HOUSTON’S MARGINALLY BETTER THAN TEMPLE, SO I GOT OU BY FOUR. I JUST WANT TO SEE HIM PLAY BETTER. ALL RIGHT. THEIR BIGGEST GAMES COMING UP SEPTEMBER 21ST. THAT’S THE ONE THAT’S CIRCLED SEPTEMBER 21ST. GET BETTER. AND BETTER AND BETTER. THEY WERE FINE. THEY WERE SOLID.
