AND JUST YESTERDAY, AS PARENTS GOT OFF WORK AND CAME HERE TO PICK UP THEIR KIDS, MANY OF THEM DIDN’T KNOW IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME THEY WALKED THROUGH THESE DOORS. AT THIS POINT, I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I DON’T I’M AT A LOSS. THAT WAS THE MESSAGE SENT TO FAMILIES WHO RELIED ON BRIGHT BEGINNINGS DAYCARE IN YUKON. THE CENTER HELD 138 CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. I’M A SINGLE MOM OF THREE AND I’M REALLY STRUGGLING, BUT SHUT DOWN WITH LITTLE REASON. THE OWNER TELLING PARENTS STRESS WAS THE DRIVING FACTOR FOR CLOSING THEIR DOORS. I HAD FORMED A RELATIONSHIP WITH HER WITH, YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY THERE, BUT I DIDN’T. I DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING. A Yukon daycare abruptly closed, leaving dozens of families without child care. Messages alerting families of the closure at Bright Beginnings began on Monday. "'I am so sorry to do this. I am closing today permanently at 6 p.m.,'" single mom Hannah Mayes said, quoting the notification she and many other families received. The center took care of 138 children of all ages. "I’m a single mom of three, and I’m really struggling," Mayes said. The owner told the parents that "stress" was the driving factor that led to the daycare closing its doors. "I had formed a relationship with her, with everybody there, but I didn’t see this coming," Mayes said. Now, parents said they are trying to find a new place for the children to go. But with waitlists and high demand, many are struggling to find another option. "It’s leaving a lot of us in a huge bind," Mayes said.
