I MEAN, KYLIE, WHAT A MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENT THIS IS FOR OKLAHOMA. YEAH, THE PARALYMPIC WATCH PARTY HERE AT UCO WAS ELECTRIC AS STUDENTS, STAFF AND FELLOW ATHLETES CHEERED ON TEAM USA. THE UNIVERSITY HERE HAS BEEN A PARALYMPIC TRAINING SITE FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS. TODAY THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE FILLED WITH JOY WATCHING THESE ATHLETES REPRESENT UCO. USA. FROM EDMOND TO PARIS, FANS ROARED FOR TEAM USA ON THURSDAY. THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA ERUPTED AS THEY WATCHED THEIR PARALYMPIC ATHLETES GO FOR THE GOLD. THE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TEAMS, THEY TRAIN HERE YEAR ROUND, SO WE SEE THEM IN ALL THROUGH ALL OF IT. THEY HAVE TRAINING CAMPS. WE HAVE SEVERAL OF THE ATHLETES THAT LIVE IN OUR COMMUNITY. UCO ALUM AND FIVE TIME PARALYMPIAN JEREMY CAMPBELL IS NOW A FIVE TIME GOLD MEDALIST. THE EDMOND RESIDENT THREW IN THE MEN’S DISCUS THROW FINAL, CLINCHING THE GOLD AS HIS UNIVERSITY CHEERED HIM ON HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD. AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT SITTING VOLLEYBALL. THE USA WOMEN’S TEAM PUT THE SMACK DOWN IN THE SEMIFINAL, SECURING THEIR SLOT IN THE FINAL AND A CHANCE TO DEFEND THEIR TITLE. THERE, DEFENDING GOLD MEDALISTS, THEY ACTUALLY WON BACK TO BACK IN THE LAST TWO GAMES, SO IT’D BE CRAZY IF THEY WERE A THREE PEAT. THE WOMEN’S TEAM HAS JUST DAY IN AND DAY OUT. BEEN PRACTICING HARD. THEY’RE COMING IN FOR TRAINING CAMPS. THEY’RE FLYING IN FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO COME AND TRAIN HERE. NOW, THE U.S. WOMEN’S SITTING VOLLEYBALL TEAM WILL GO FOR THAT GOLD THIS SATURDAY.
