NOW THE PARKS AND REC DEPARTMENT IS ASKING OKLAHOMANS TO KEEP AN EYE OUT. FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN. THAT’S AFTER VANDALS BROKE INTO SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PANELS AT WILEY POST PARK LOOKING FOR COPPER WIRES. IT’S A VERY SELFISH ACT THAT DAMAGE CAUSED A MALFUNCTION AT THE SPRAYGROUND FOR SEVERAL DAYS, WATER HAS POURED NONSTOP WITH OR WITHOUT KIDS THERE. THE OKLAHOMA CITY PARKS AND REC DEPARTMENT SAYS THEY CAN’T TURN OFF THE TAP WITHOUT SHUTTING EVERYTHING DOWN. YOU REALLY HAVE TO CLOSE EVERYTHING DOWN TO REALLY, FULLY EVALUATE THE EXTENT OF THE FULL DAMAGE. NOW, LABOR DAY WEEKEND WILL BE DRY AND DARK. THERE’S NO ELECTRICITY, MEANING NO LIGHTS IN THE PAVILION OR THE BATHROOM. FORCING THE CITY TO KEEP IT CLOSED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE THIEVES WEREN’T CAUGHT ON CAMERA. NOW PARKS AND REC IS ASKING FOR THE COMMUNITY’S HELP AS THE CITY IS LEFT WITH A PRICEY BILL TO PAY. AND THAT’S NOT FUNDING THAT WE READILY HAVE AVAILABLE. OUR BUDGETS ARE ALWAYS PRETTY TIGHT. THE VANDALISM HURTS EVERYONE, AND WE REALLY HOPE THAT PEOPLE WILL HELP. HELP PATROL THAT AND JUST HELP US KEEP IT DOWN, KEEP IT DOWN.
