FEW MINUTES, ZACH. OKAY. DAMON OU IS JOINING THE CONVERSATION IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. AND IT COULD HELP THE WAY THAT WE FORECAST OUR WEATHER. METEOROLOGIST TAYLOR COX IS JOINING US NOW. TAYLOR. WITH HOW I COULD HELP IMPROVE THE FUTURE OF FORECASTING. WEATHER MODELS ARE SOMETHING THAT METEOROLOGISTS LOOK AT SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TO FORECAST CONDITIONS AROUND THE WORLD. NOW, I COULD PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL TOOL FOR CREATING THOSE FORECASTS. I SPOKE WITH AMY MCGOVERN, A PROFESSOR AT OU, ABOUT THE WORK THAT’S HAPPENING IN NORMAN TO DEVELOP THIS TECHNOLOGY. WE’RE FOCUSED ON CREATING TRUSTWORTHY AI FOR WEATHER, AND WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO IS CREATE AI THAT WILL HELP US IMPROVE OUR WEATHER PREDICTION AND OUR WEATHER UNDERSTANDING, SHE SAYS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS IS FOR THE TOOLS TO BE TRUSTWORTHY AND RELIABLE. THIS IS PART OF A PRESIDENTIAL EXECUTIVE ORDER. FOR MORE STANDARDIZED AI. THE TRUSTWORTHY PART. WE REALLY WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS FOR PEOPLE TO TRUST OUR AI, AND IN PARTICULAR, OKLAHOMA, GIVES US THIS PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO TRUST AI AND HIGH, HIGH STRESS, HIGH IMPACT SITUATIONS FROM SEVERE WEATHER FORECASTING TO CURRENT CONDITIONS. THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION HERE ARE ROAD CONDITIONS. SO WHETHER IT’S SNOWING, FOGGY OR POURING RAIN, VISIBILITY ON THE ROADS IS VITAL FOR A SAFE COMMUTE. OFTEN TIMES, METEOROLOGISTS WILL USE ODOT CAMERAS TO ASSESS THE VISIBILITY ACROSS THE CITY. ONE AI PROJECT ACTUALLY IN THE WORKS RIGHT NOW COULD MAKE THOSE ASSESSMENTS FOR US AND GIVE US REAL TIME INFORMATION, INFORMATION
