TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. BREAKING THE CHAINS OF GENERATIONAL POVERTY. THAT’S THE GOAL OF MAKING OF MEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM. AND TODAY, A GROUP OF MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM JOHN MARSHALL TOOK A FIELD TRIP TO THE SUPREME COURT. K-O-C-O’S SHELBY MONTGOMERY HAS A LOOK AT THEIR IMPACT IN CELEBRATION OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH, A GROUP OF ABOUT 20 MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS MET AN INFLUENTIAL MEMBER OF THEIR COMMUNITY. THE FIRST BLACK CHIEF JUSTICE FOR THE OKLAHOMA SUPREME COURT OF APPEALS. DRESSED IN FOREST GREEN, THESE YOUNG MEN ARE STEPPING OUT. GREEN REPRESENTS WILL POWER, AND WHEN THEY WEAR THEIR GREEN, I WANT THEM TO REMEMBER THAT I CAN MAKE ANYTHING HAPPEN WHEN I’M IN THIS SUIT FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE SUPREME COURT. IT’S ABOUT HOW DO WE HELP YOUNG MEN WHO HAVE SOME ROLE MODELS IN THEIR FAMILY WHO ARE MEN, BUT MAY NOT SEE THOSE DIFFERENT MEN FROM DIFFERENT CAREERS OR DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS? THIS IS PART OF THE MAKING OF MEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE PAST 20 PLUS YEARS, WE’VE BEEN INTENTIONAL TO WORK WITH MAKING OF MEN, UH, TO CREATE A PROGRAM THAT WORKS WITH BOYS SPECIFICALLY TO ADDRESS THOSE NEEDS SO THAT WE COULD RAISE THE BAR INSIDE THE CLASSROOM, EXPOSING THESE MEN TO OPPORTUNITY. THAT’S A SEED THAT’S GOING TO BE PLANTED THAT NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY, NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY. AND WE REALLY BELIEVE THAT THE KEY TO TRANSFORMING LIVES IS TAKING THEM OUTSIDE OF THE AREA. THAT’S THAT. ALL THEY SEE IS CERTAIN THINGS WE WANT TO EXPOSE THEM TO GREATER. TODAY WAS JUST ONE WAY TO FULFILL THE MISSION OF THE MAKING OF MEN LEADERSH
