The internet is teeing off on a man after a video of him “mansplaining” how a female golf pro could improve her swing went viral on social media.
In a recent report, CNN’s Jeanne Moos told the story of a man unknowingly giving golf tips to PGA golf pro Georgia Ball, a golf coach from the United Kingdom.
The man, who was not named, had been watching Ball at a driving range when he started giving her unsolicited advice.
"What you're doing here – you shouldn't be doing that. You should be right through. Swing and follow through,” the man can be heard saying in the video, which has gone viral on TikTok.
Ball attempts to reply before the man cuts her off and continues to offer his tips.
"I'm going through a swing change at the moment so everything," Ball says before the man says "No, I know but what you're doing there is, you're coming back too slow. You know I've been playing golf for 20 years."
Throughout the exchange, Georgia remained humble and bit her tongue before looking at the camera and then whacking the ball like the pro that she is.
The man didn’t catch on and was quick to take credit for having helped her with the impressive swing.
"See how much better that was,” he says.
Staying patient, Ball simply replies, "Yeah thank you. I don't think that was — yeah."
Commenters on social media have expressed how impressed they are with Ball’s restraint.
“The patience of a saint!” one commenter said.
After the video of the driving range exchange went viral, Ball talked to ITN’’s “This Morning.”
"I'm a humble person. It's just not in me to say, 'I'm a professional golfer. I know what I'm doing,'" she told the UK-based show.
