YEAH, GUYS, I’M HERE AT THAT PROPERTY THAT CAUGHT FIRE EARLIER AND BACK BEHIND ME HERE, POWER CREWS ARE WORKING ON A POLE THAT WAS DAMAGED. BUT I WANT TO SHOW YOU JUST HOW CLOSE THIS FIRE GOT TO THE ROADWAY. HERE YOU CAN SEE THAT DARK AREA GOES RIGHT UP TO THE GRAVEL ROAD. BUT THAT WASN’T THE ONLY PROBLEM HERE. THE EMBERS FROM THE BLAZE CROSSED THE ROAD AND ACTUALLY THREATENED ANOTHER HOUSE. THE WIFE CALLED AND SAID THAT THE PLACE WAS ON FIRE. I NEEDED TO GET HOME AND WHEN HE GOT HOME, JIM SAYS HE SAW THE PROPERTY ACROSS FROM HIS OWN HOUSE BURNING. IT WAS FULLY INVOLVED. UM, I JUST I GOT WATER HOSES AND STARTED PUTTING OUT WHAT I COULD ON MY SIDE. YOU DIDN’T HAVE MUCH TIME. EMBERS FROM THE BLAZE STARTED SMALL GRASS FIRES ON HIS OWN PROPERTY, WAY TOO CLOSE TO HOME. THERE WAS. THERE WAS A SPOT UP BY THE HOUSE. UM, AND OVER ON THE OTHER END OF OUR POLE BARN THERE, THAT, UH, THAT GOT UNCOMFORTABLE. AND ABOUT 50 YARDS AWAY FROM THE MAIN BLAZE ON HIS OWN FRONT PORCH. THE HEAT WAS ALMOST TOO MUCH. ONE OF THESE BIG CEDARS WENT UP AND AND I COULD FEEL THE HEAT FROM IT. IT IT WAS IT WAS TOO HOT FOR ME TO BE STANDING WHERE I WAS. PAYNE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TOLD ME. TWO HOMES BURNED IN THE BLAZE. ONE WAS OCCUPIED, BUT EVERYONE GOT OUT OKAY. THE OTHER WAS A SMALL VACANT HOME AND SEVERAL SMALLER OUTBUILDINGS BURNED TOO. WE HAD SOME FIREFIGHTERS THAT WENT DOWN BECAUSE OF HEAT EXHAUSTION. NOBODY’S USED TO TO THE HEAT YET, SO YOU KNOW, WE’VE HAD COOL WEATHER. JEFF KOONS SAYS THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING FOR FIRE SEASON, AND IT’S HERE A LITTLE EARLIER THAN USUAL. WARMER WEATHER MIXED WITH DRY CONDITIONS AND WIND IS PRIME TIME FOR FIRES. NORMALLY, THE MONTH OF MARCH IS REALLY ARE A BAD, BAD, BAD MONTH, BUT YOU KNOW, THIS WAS ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO BE THE GOOD DAY THIS WEEK. AND SO NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A LOT WORSE. COMMITTEES ARE GOING TO BE DOWN, THE WINDS ARE GOING TO BE REALLY HIGH. NOW, THE CAUSE OF THIS FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION, BUT
