AS BLACK HISTORY MONTH CONTINUES, AN AREA SCHOOL HOSTED AN EVENT TO SHOWCASE AND CELEBRATE. BLACK ART. CAMERON SIBERT HAS MORE FROM ORGANIZERS AND ARTIST. ON WHY THIS EVENT IS SO IMPORTANT. JOHNSON IN YEAR TWO OF THEIR BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION, THE ARTISTS AND TRAILBLAZERS AT METRO TECH OKC PUT THEIR WORK ON FULL DISPLAY. I THINK IT’S OUR CULTURE. THIS IS WHO WE ARE, AND SO WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO EXPOSE THAT CLOTHING, COSMETICS, PAINTINGS AND POETRY HAD CHANCE TO ENLIGHTEN STUDENTS AND BRING THEM TOGETHER. WE BASICALLY REALLY DO THIS BECAUSE OF OUR STUDENTS BE ABLE TO EDUCATE OUR STUDENTS, BRING AWARENESS TO OUR STUDENTS, AND THEN CELEBRATING WITH OUR STUDENTS AS WELL. NO BETTER SIGN OF PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER THAN CLOTHING. WHAT’S EXTRA SPECIAL ABOUT MY ART IS VERSATILITY. MY SIGNATURE IS VERSATILITY. THIS GARMENT, YOU SEE IT? I CAN WRAP IT AND CHANGE IT AND TUCK IT IN IN THE FRONT. THIS IS ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN WEAR IT. I CAN ALSO TAKE IT AND PUT IT BEHIND MY ARMS. A PANEL SHARED STORIES OF STRUGGLE AND EVENTUAL SUCCESS, AND THE PEOPLE WHO HELPED THEM ALONG THE WAY, INCLUDING JOYCE, JACKSON, AN AWARD WINNING JOURNALIST AND FORMER TALK SHOW HOST AT KOCO. MY ORIGINAL MENTOR WAS MISS LUPER, MISS LUPER WAS THE ONE THAT, BECAUSE I WAS PRETTY BASHFUL IN SCHOOL AND I KNOW PEOPLE CAN’T IMAGINE SOMEBODY THAT WORKS IN THE MEDIA BEING BASHFUL, BUT I WAS AND SHE SAID I’D TALK LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT AND WALK LIKE YOU’RE NOT, KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING AND HOLD YOUR HEAD UP. But I was, and she said, 'Talk like you know what you are talking about, and walk like you know where you are going, and hold your head up always, and you can do anything and be anyone you want to be,'" Jackson said.
