IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ANYONE. A FAMILY GET TOGETHER BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS ENDED IN TRAGEDY MONDAY NIGHT. ACCORDING TO OHP, JUST BEFORE 620, A FEMALE DRIVER AND THREE KIDS WERE HEADING EAST TOWARDS THE TOWN OF POCASSET ALONG COUNTY ROAD 1290 AND COUNTY STREET 2780. WHEN TRAGEDY STRUCK. INVESTIGATORS ON SCENE WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE DRIVER OF THE SUV HAD RECENTLY LEFT A FAMILY GET TOGETHER AND HAD ATTEMPTED TO SWERVE TO MISS A DEER IN THE ROADWAY. TROOPERS SAY THE SUV THEN ROLLED AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIMES. FIRSTRILLIONESPONDERS AT THE SCENE BEGAN CHEST COMPRESSIONS ON THE SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL BEFORE SHE WAS TAKEN TO GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, WHERE SHE LATER DIED. THE AMOUNT OF DEER CRASHES HAVE INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY THIS YEAR. THE DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO OU MED IN CRITICAL CONDITION. A FIVE YEAR OLD BOY AND TEN YEAR OLD GIRL WERE TAKEN TO OU CHILDREN’S ON TUESDAY. VIRDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS SHARED THE HEARTBREAKING NEWS THAT THE SEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL WAS ONE OF THEIR SECOND GRADERS. ACCORDING TO THE DISTRICT, EVERYONE INSIDE THE CAR WAS FAMILY AND A LETTER TO PARENTS. THE SUPERINTENDENT CALLED VIRDEN A CLOSE KNIT COMMUNITY AND ASKED FOR PRAYERS, SAYING NO ONE IN THEIR SCHOOL FAMILY EXPERIENCES PAIN OR LOSS ALONE. NOW, ALONG WITH HAVING COUNSELORS AVAILABLE TODAY AND TOMORROW BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK, THE SCHOOL ALSO DECIDED TO POSTPONE THEIR ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. A small Oklahoma town is grieving after a 7-year-old girl was killed in a car crash in rural Grady County.Authorities released what led up to the deadly accident. First responders at the scene began chest compressions on the 7-year-old girl before she was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later died."The amount of deer crashes have increased significantly this year," Cox said.The driver was taken to OU Medical in critical condition.
