Cooper, 84, of Cache, was driving a grain truck south on State Highway 115, about 4 miles south of Cache, when the front driver’s side tire failed. The truck left the road and rolled, landing on its top. At about 5:40 a.m. Friday, William Downum, 62, of Garvin, was driving a pickup northeast on State Highway 98, about 5 miles east of Wright City, when the pickup left the road and struck a tree. Downum died at the scene from his injuries, troopers said.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Friday, James M. Cooper, 84, of Cache, was driving a grain truck south on State Highway 115, about 4 miles south of Cache, when the front driver’s side tire failed. The truck left the road and rolled, landing on its top. Cooper was taken to a local hospital where he died, the patrol reported.

Both men were wearing seat belts, troopers reported.
