An investigation is underway after a Cleveland County Detention Center inmate accused of kidnapping died of an apparent suicide on Sunday.

Jail officials said in a news release that Daniel Edward Freeman, 58, was found unresponsive in his cell during an in-person check at 11:05 p.m. Staff started life-saving measures, and medical services were dispatched.
Freeman was taken to Norman Regional Healthplex, where officials said he was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m.
As of now, Freeman's death is being reported as a suicide, but the Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
The news release states that an initial investigation showed that Freeman was up and moving around in his cell before lights out at 10 p.m., and no issues were found during in-person sight checks between 8:07 p.m. and 10:34 p.m.
Freeman was booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on Thursday after allegedly tying up a woman during a kidnapping and forcing her to withdraw money from her bank account.
Cleveland County Detention Center officials said they have asked for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation's help in the investigation.
