THE VELOCITIES ARE EXTREME WITH THIS TORNADO. IT IS VERY INTENSE. IT MAY BE THE MOST INTENSE TORNADO WE’VE SEEN IN OKLAHOMA THIS YEAR. AND THAT’S SAYING SOMETHING. WELL, THAT WAS FIELD METEOROLOGIST MICHAEL ARMSTRONG ON AIR LIVE WITH YOU LAST NIGHT. AS A LARGE, VIOLENT TORNADO MOVED THROUGH SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA. AND SPEAKING OF IN YOUR NEXT TOP FIVE, OUR ENTIRE FIRST ALERT WEATHER TEAM WAS HERE TRACKING THAT TORNADIC STORM AS IT ALSO DROPPED BIG HAIL FUNNELS, HEAVY RAIN, AND TODAY OUR KOCO MORNING CREW WAS IN ALTUS AS THE SUN CAME UP AND YOU COULD SEE WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED. METEOROLOGIST TAYLOR COX SHOWS US THE DAMAGE BY SUNLIGHT. THE DAMAGE VISIBLE AFTER A VIOLENT TORNADO HIT THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THE STATE AND SUCH A DANGEROUS TORNADO TO STILL A MASSIVE STORM. I MEAN, IT EXTENDS SO FAR TO THE NORTHWEST AND THE SOUTHEAST THAT I CAN’T EVEN GET IT IN MY 360 CAMERA FIELD. METEOROLOGIST MICHAEL ARMSTRONG AND STORM COMMAND. AS STORMS REALLY FIRED IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE STATE, LARGE HAIL FALLING JUST NORTH OF HOLLIS AROUND DINNERTIME TIME. THIS PARTICULAR STONE IS ABOUT 2.25 TO 2 AND A HALF, SO WE’RE TALKING ABOUT CLOSE TO TENNIS BALL SIZED HAIL RIGHT HERE. MOMENTS LATER, EXTREME WIND SPINNING UP OVER THE PLAINS. IT’S A TORNADO. I THINK WE GOT A TORNADO. DAMON ORGANIZING INTO A LARGE, VIOLENT TORNADO NEAR ALTUS OKARCHE. SO THERE ARE, THERE ARE THERE IS A VORTICES THAT I CAN SEE SPINNING INSIDE IT AS THE SUN ROSE FRIDAY MORNING, THE IMPACT OF THE STORM BECAME MORE CLEAR. SEVERAL RESIDENTS WOKE UP IN THE DARK. UTILITY CREWS OUT EARLY THIS MORNING IN AREAS NEAR HOLLIS, DUKE AND ALTUS REPAIRING LINES TO GET THE POWER BACK ON. FOR OTHERS, IT MAY TAKE A LITTLE LONGER. SEVERAL HOMES ALONG HIGHWAY 62 BETWEEN ALTUS AND DUKE SUSTAINED DAMAGE. SOME EVEN HAVE THEIR ROOFS RIPPED OFF. OTHER PROPERTIES SAW CARS DAMAGED METAL WRAPPED AROUND TREES, AND EVEN A WINDMILL TAKEN DOWN ALONG THAT SAME STRETCH OF

More tornadoes touched down on Thursday as severe storms continue to hit Oklahoma this season.Southwestern Oklahoma saw the brunt of the storms as tornadoes, hail and strong storms were spotted near Altus, Eldorado, Duke, Hollis and McKnight.Below is a recap of some of the tornadoes and damage in Oklahoma.Altus TornadoA tornado was on the ground for a while in Jackson County, causing damage near Altus. At least one home sustained damage.On Friday morning, KOCO 5 crews found a home with a blown-off roof and other damage.The storms also caused flooding in Altus. KOCO 5 crews were in the area Thursday night, showing a van stuck in a flooded street. There also was major flooding outside the Walmart near Highway 6.Eldorado TornadoAlso in Jackson County, Storm Command was there when a tornado spun up just northeast of Eldorado.The storm left behind a trail of damage. Part of a roof was torn off, trees were snapped and it looked like a mattress was wrapped around a pole. "Gustnado" near HollisA "gustnado" was caught on camera when storms moved through the Hollis area. Storm Command tracked the storm southeast of Hollis, showing the "gustnado" picking up dirt in a rural area.McKnight HailThe severe weather also brought large hail to parts of the state, with some storms being warned for hail stones the size of tennis balls and baseballs.KOCO 5 Meteorologist Michael Armstrong was near McKnight in Harmon County when large hail pelted the area. More tornadoes touched down on Thursday as severe storms continue to hit Oklahoma this season.

Southwestern Oklahoma saw the brunt of the storms as tornadoes, hail and strong storms were spotted near Altus, Eldorado, Duke, Hollis and McKnight.

Below is a recap of some of the tornadoes and damage in Oklahoma.

Altus Tornado

A tornado was on the ground for a while in Jackson County, causing damage near Altus. At least one home sustained damage.

On Friday morning, KOCO 5 crews found a home with a blown-off roof and other damage.

The storms also caused flooding in Altus. KOCO 5 crews were in the area Thursday night, showing a van stuck in a flooded street. There also was major flooding outside the Walmart near Highway 6.

Eldorado Tornado

Also in Jackson County, Storm Command was there when a tornado spun up just northeast of Eldorado.

The storm left behind a trail of damage. Part of a roof was torn off, trees were snapped and it looked like a mattress was wrapped around a pole.

"Gustnado" near Hollis

A "gustnado" was caught on camera when storms moved through the Hollis area. Storm Command tracked the storm southeast of Hollis, showing the "gustnado" picking up dirt in a rural area.

McKnight Hail

The severe weather also brought large hail to parts of the state, with some storms being warned for hail stones the size of tennis balls and baseballs.

KOCO 5 Meteorologist Michael Armstrong was near McKnight in Harmon County when large hail pelted the area. When it was safe, Michael got out and compared one of the hail stones, showing that it was larger than a golf ball.

Injuries

KOCO 5 has not received any reports of injuries in connection with Thursday's tornadoes and severe storms.

Damage

Some damage was reported in southwestern Oklahoma, with some homes being destroyed in Jackson County.

Lawton-area television station KSWO reported that their storm chasers said three homes were destroyed on County Road 196 east of Duke. Jackson County Emergency Management also told KSWO that a mobile home was destroyed at Highways 96 and 62.

Power poles also were down about 5 miles west of Altus on Highway 62.
