Nuggets center Nikola Jokic has been named the NBA's MVP for the third time, beating out Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the honor.
Jokic won the MVP after averaging a double-double and almost a triple-double per game this past season. He averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and nine rebounds per game.
The 29-year-old also was named the MVP in 2021 and 2022 in seasons where he averaged similar numbers.
Gilgeous-Alexander and Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic were also finalists for the award. The Thunder point guard finished third in scoring with 30.1 points per game.
Although Gilgeous-Alexander wasn't named the MVP, he and the Thunder are still in contention to win an NBA title. Oklahoma City holds a 1-0 best-of-seven series lead against Doncic and Dallas in the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Nuggets look to repeat as NBA champs, but they trail the Minnesota Timberwolves in their Western Conference Semifinals series 2-0.
