YEAH. GOOD MORNING. JUST GOT NEW INFORMATION. WE NOW KNOW THAT TROOPER AND THE TRAINEE WERE RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL JUST WITH MINOR INJURIES. WE ALSO JUST TALKED TO DEL CITY POLICE. THEY TELL US THREE JUVENILES WERE ARRESTED. THEY WERE IN THE GETAWAY CAR. ALL OF THIS STARTING AFTER A TRAFFIC STOP IN DEL CITY AROUND 230 THIS MORNING. AND NOW THAT THE SUN IS UP, WE CAN PAINT A BETTER PICTURE OF WHAT THIS CRASH LOOKED LIKE. THIS IS AN EDMOND HERE ALONG SECOND STREET AND I-35. YOU CAN SEE THE BUMPER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER THIS TROOPERS UNIT JUMPED THE CURB. SHATTERED GLASS AS WELL AND TIRE MARKS SKIDDING THROUGH THIS AREA INTO A DITCH WHERE THIS CRASH CAME TO AN END. WE CAN ALSO SHOW YOU OUR VIDEO FROM EARLIER THIS MORNING AROUND 3:00, RIGHT AFTER THE CRASH HAPPENED. YOU CAN SEE JUST HOW SERIOUS IT WAS AS THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE CAR LOSING A TIRE BADLY DAMAGED. OHP WAS CALLED IN TO ASSIST WITH THIS CHASE. AGAIN, IT ALL STARTED AROUND 230 THIS MORNING. YOU KNOW, IT’S A HEROIC THING THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO YOU KNOW, ASSIST WITH THIS OTHER AGENCY FOR WHATEVER REASON, WHY THEY WERE TRYING TO STOP THAT VEHICLE. I’M JUST GLAD THAT THE OUTCOME IS, IS EVERYONE’S OKAY AND WE’RE ABLE TO WALK AWAY. SO THE CRASH HAPPENED ON SECOND AND I-35 IN EDMOND. IT’S RIGHT NEAR THE LIFE CHURCH OF EDMOND, WHERE WE’RE STANDING THIS MORNING. POLICE EVENTUALLY ARRESTED THREE SUSPECTS. THEY WERE ALL HANDED OVER TO DEL CITY POLICE. AND AGAIN, THE GOOD NEWS THIS MORNING, THAT TROOPER, THAT TRAINEE ABLE TO BE TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL WITH JUST MINOR INJURIES. The driver took off, sparking a chase that reached close to 100 mph at times.At some point, troopers joined the chase before their vehicle crashed into a ditch near Life. Church at Second Street and Interstate 35. Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials told KOCO 5 that a trooper and a trainee were in the unit that crashed.“There were significant high speeds involved,” Trooper Preston Cox said. “I’m unaware as to how high they were going, but I do know that it did go on for quite a while, a length of time.”The crash caused the Oklahoma Highway Patrol unit’s airbags to deploy, and the car lost a tire and was badly damaged.
