Shawnda Adams
News DirectorShawnda Adams is the news director for KOCO 5. She’s been a part of the KOCO family since 2014, and she was the station’s assistant news director until she was promoted in 2019.
Adams grew up in Oklahoma and is a proud graduate of Tulsa’s Will Rogers High School, where she got her start in journalism and worked on Tulsa Public Schools Television.
She went on to write for The O’Colly at Oklahoma State University.
Adams started her professional career as an editor and producer at a Tulsa TV station, then moved on to Orlando and Houston where she worked as an executive producer.
She’s won numerous awards for breaking news coverage, including a regional Emmy for her team’s coverage of the West fertilizer plant explosion and the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Adams volunteers as a mentor for veterans transitioning into the civilian workforce, through America’s Corporate Partners. It’s a cause that’s close to her heart. Adams’ husband served two tours of duty in Iraq as a combat medic with the Army.
They live in Edmond with their 4 sons.
