AnchorAlejandra Briones anchors KOCO 5’s 4:30 a.m. weekday newscast and gives viewers breaking news from the First Alert desk 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. All morning long, she’s tracking breaking local, national and international stories to keep viewers informed and up-to-date about what happened overnight and what's happening right now, so they start their day prepared and informed.
Briones joined KOCO from KTSM-TV NBC in El Paso, Texas, where she was morning and noon anchor, producer and reporter. While in El Paso she anchored and reported big breaking news stories including the El Paso Walmart shooting that made national headlines, and Pope Francis' visit to El Paso's sister city, Juarez, Mexico. Previously, Briones was a reporter with KTAB-TV Telemundo in Abilene, Texas, where she served as a bilingual reporter for English and Spanish language newscasts.
Briones is a Texas native, who grew up in Garland, TX. She is a graduate of the University of North Texas, Denton, where she majored in TV Radio and Film with a minor in Spanish.
She loves to meet people and tell their stories, and is thrilled to be able to share those stories with KOCO viewers.
Briones is a proud military spouse. Her husband is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Briones and her husband love exploring local neighborhoods and discovering new places to eat. She's a passionate basketball fan and a self-described homebody who loves binge-watching her favorite shows.
