Former University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops got emotional while introducing his friend Toby Keith during the Sooners' new tradition on Saturday.
Between the third and fourth quarters of each home game this season, OU will play Keith's hit song "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue." University officials said the tribute to the late country music superstar gives "85,000 fans the opportunity to sing along."
During Saturday night's game against Houston, Stoops provided an introduction to Keith and the song. The former OU football coach got emotional while honoring his friend.
KOCO 5 Storm Chaser Nick Smith captured some of the moment, showing Stoops wearing a black hat with "Toby" in white letters on it. Stoops gave several fist pumps to the fans after the tribute and while walking off the field.
Keith was a longtime fan and supporter of OU athletics and the football program.
