We're just days away from the next pivotal moment in this year's historic presidential election.
On Tuesday night, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are scheduled to take the debate stage. This year has shown us more than ever the power of a good or bad performance on that stage.
I encourage each of you to watch the debate and listen to what the candidates say on Tuesday. In these days of divisive speech, meme culture and so much misinformation, it's easy to be distracted from those issues that really matter.
My challenge to you is to push the distractions aside. Focus on what each candidate says about how they'll tackle the problems that matter most to you.
ABC will not have spectators at the debate and says it will mute microphones when it's not a candidate's turn to speak. That will allow us to focus on their words and the details of their plans.
Debates are a critical tenet of our country's election process. You're not just watching as a spectator. You're watching as an active participant in democracy. And we're committed to being your trusted source leading up to election day.
