EIGHT NEWS AT FIVE STARTS RIGHT NOW. WELL, IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD TIME IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE, AND RIGHT NOW CYCLONE FANS ARE LIVING IT UP AS WE ARE A DAY OUT FROM THE LIBERTY BOWL. OUR JEFF DUBROF JOINS US FROM MEMPHIS. AND JEFF, IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE FANS TODAY, WASN’T IT? YEAH. JODI LAURA, THAT’S A GREAT WAY TO DESCRIBE IT. YOU SEE BEALE STREET BEHIND ME, FANS SLOWLY TRICKLING IN. IT’S ALMOST DINNERTIME. PEOPLE GETTING BARBECUE, SOME RIBS, PORK, WHATEVER SUITS YOUR NEEDS, SO TO SPEAK. BUT YES, TODAY, ALL ABOUT THE FESTIVITIES, TOMORROW ALL ABOUT THE GAME. LET’S TALK ABOUT THOSE FESTIVITIES. BOY, WERE THEY FUN. STARTED OUT WITH A PEP RALLY AT AUTOZONE PARK. THAT’S THE HOME OF THE MEMPHIS REDBIRDS. AND LET ME TELL YOU, THE FANS ABSOLUTELY SHOWED OUT THIS AFTERNOON. I MEAN, YOU SEE IT RIGHT NOW. THOSE ARE ALL THE FANS THERE. AND LOOK, THIS THIS WAS PACKED CYCLONE FANS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY GATHERING IN MEMPHIS. THIS IS A FEW DAYS OF FUN. ALL CULMINATING WATCHING THIS TEAM THAT HAS PERFORMED WELL THIS YEAR AND HAS MADE CYCLONE FANS PROUD. LAST NIGHT WE GOT HERE AND WENT DOWN BEALE STREET AND HAD A GREAT TIME WITH A LOT OF CYCLONE FANS AT THE COUNTRY BAR, AND WE HAD A REALLY GOOD TIME. YEAH, IT’S IT’S BEEN FUN TO KIND OF SEE THEM PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. AND, YOU KNOW, IT’S FUN TO COME TO MEMPHIS HISTORIC TOWN. SO IT’S KIND OF BEST OF BOTH WORLDS. GET A LITTLE TRIP OUT OF IT AND THEN SEE THE CYCLONES PLAY. YEAH, THAT WASN’T THE ONLY THING FANS WERE DOING TODAY. WE’RE GOING TO BE HEARING FROM A LOT MORE THE BEALE STREET PARADE. Sisters from Ankeny, Iowa, Stacy Broders and Jessica Crecelius root for opposing teams. Broders attended Iowa State University, and Crecelius attended the University of Iowa, but the two share a special Cy-Hawk tradition. Every year, the sisters shop for matching outfits but in each of their teams' respective colors. After a week of trading smack talk on social media, they sport their matching outfits while watching the game together.
