Pennsylvania boy wins 2024 kids mullet championship

Pennsylvania boy wins 2024 kids mullet championship
WGAL NEWS EIGHT. WELL, THIS WEEKEND MARKED TWO YEARS SINCE A BOY FROM NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA CUT HIS HAIR INTO A MULLET AND THAT STARTED A CHAIN REACTION OF EVENTS THAT WOULD EVENTUALLY WIN HIM A NATIONAL TITLE AND A LITTLE BIT OF MONEY, TOO. JOINING US NOW IS THE CHAMPION HIMSELF, SIX YEAR OLD CAMDEN CUNNINGHAM AND HIS MOM, KELSEY. THANK YOU BOTH FOR JOINING US ON THIS LABOR DAY. THANK YOU FOR HAVING US. CAMDEN, LET ME SEE YOUR MULLET. CAN YOU GO TO THE SIDE FOR ME? OH, BOY. THAT IS ONE NICE MULLET THAT WON YOU SOME MONEY. HEY, CAMDEN. I HEARD YOU WON, LIKE, $5,000. IS THAT RIGHT? THAT’S A LOT OF MONEY, BUDDY. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH ALL THAT MONEY YOU JUST WON? GO TO DISNEY. WHERE ARE YOU GOING? TO WHAT? GO TO DISNEY. YOU’RE GOING TO GO TO DISNEY? MOM. KELSEY. IS HE GOING TO DISNEY? HE WANTS TO SO HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH HIS WINNINGS. I TELL YOU WHAT. LET’S TAKE US BACK A LITTLE BIT, BECAUSE TELL ME HOW THIS MULLET CAME TO BE. SO LONG STORY SHORT, HIS BROTHER DID CHOP HIS HAIR OFF. AND WHEN WE TRIED FIGURING OUT WHAT TO DO WITH THIS HAIR, HE SAID HE DIDN’T WANT TO CUT IT. SO WE WERE SHOWING HIM PICTURES. HE ENDED UP PICKING A MULLET. SO WE’RE LIKE, OH, OKAY, THAT’S DIFFERENT. LET’S GO. SO WHEN I POSTED IT UP ON FACEBOOK, OF COURSE, THE ALGORITHM STARTED THROWING EVERYTHING IN THERE LIKE MULLET, THIS, MULLET THAT, AND THEN WE CAME ACROSS THE MULLET CHAMPIONSHIPS AND I WAS LIKE, ALL RIGHT, WELL, YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS. SO IF IT’S AROUND NEXT YEAR AND YOU WANT TO DO IT, WE’LL GO FOR IT. SO LAST YEAR WE ASKED HIM, HEY, DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS? HE GOES, YEAH, LET’S DO IT. AND THEN HE LOVED THE FACT THAT WE WERE HELPING VETERANS. AND SO HE WAS ALL INTO HELPING OTHER PEOPLE BECAUSE THEN ONCE HE FINISHED THIRD AND WAS DONE, HE SAID, CAN WE HELP MORE PEOPLE? SO THEN AGAIN THIS YEAR, HE WAS ALL FOR IT. BUT HE WAS LIKE, I’M GETTING THE NUMBER ONE SPOT. AND HE DID. SO I GUESS THERE’S THREE DIFFERENT. THERE’S LIKE THE KIDS, THE TEENS AND THE ADULTS. SO IN THAT, YES, THAT WON YOU $5,000. SO WHAT WAS THAT COMPETITION LIKE? I’M GOING TO ASK CAMDEN THAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A NAME FOR YOUR MULLET, RIGHT? WHAT DO YOU CALL YOUR MULLET. COMMANDER? THE COMMANDER. SO TELL ME WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF THE COMPETITION. WHAT WAS THAT LIKE FOR YOU? GOOD. IT WAS GOOD. WAS IT FUN? YEAH, YEAH. WERE YOU A LITTLE SAD, THOUGH, WHEN YOUR BROTHER CHOPPED YOUR HAIR AT FIRST? NO. WELL, YEAH, BUT I ENDED UP HAVING A MULLET. YEAH. YOU DID, AND IT WON YOU SOME MONEY. AND IN COMPETITION. SO I THINK THIS IS GREAT. CASEY, WHAT WAS YOUR TAKEAWAY FROM THAT COMPETITION AND ALL THE ATTENTION THAT THIS IS GETTING YOU? IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE HE HAS SUCH A GREAT PERSONALITY. SO JUST SEEING EVERYBODY SEE THAT TOO. THERE’S SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS ONE. LIKE I HAVE THREE BOYS AND THEY ALL HAVE THEIR OWN PERSONALITIES, BUT HE IS JUST A GO GETTER AND HE ALWAYS WANTS TO DO STUFF. SO WATCHING HIM BE ABLE TO FLOURISH AND THEN ALSO LEARN IN THE PROCESS OF HELPING OTHERS, IT WAS A GREAT LESSON FOR HIM TO LEARN AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE. YEAH, I LOVE THIS TOO BECAUSE YEAH, THAT COMPETITION DOES A LOT OF GOOD. IT SUPPORTS THE JARED ALLEN’S HOMES FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS, SO THEY RAISE A LOT OF MONEY FOR THAT ORGANIZATION THAT NONPROFIT, I SHOULD SAY. AND THIS IS SOMETHING YOU’RE GOING TO DO AGAIN, YOU THINK ARE YOU GOING TO DO THE COMPETITION AGAIN? EVERY TIME? WHAT DO YOU SAY? HE SAID, I’M RETIRING. OH, YOU’RE RETIRED. YOU’RE ONLY SIX YEARS OLD. WE NEED THE COMMANDER TO MAKE ANOTHER DEBUT, YOU KNOW. BUT I THINK IT’S GREAT THAT YOU DID THIS COMPETITION. HE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF FUN AND ENJOYING THAT. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I HOPE YOU GET TO GO TO DISNEY. BY THE WAY. CAMDEN. WHAT DO YOU SA
