NASA announced the Boeing Starliner capsule will return to Earth on Sept. 7 uncrewed. The Starliner's crewed test flight launched on June 5 aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Starliner successfully docked at the ISS on June 6 and was originally slated to stay there for a little over a week.However, Boeing's Starliner return to Earth was delayed indefinitely after discovering several hydrogen leaks. On Aug. 24, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Administrator Bill Nelson said that the Boeing Starliner capsule would return uncrewed from the ISS. After undocking, Starliner will take about six hours to reach the White Sands Space Harbor landing zone in New Mexico. The spacecraft is set to touch down at about 12:03 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.The two astronauts stuck in space, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, will remain at the ISSthrough February 2025, when they'll return with the agency's Crew-9 mission.
