ANYONE WAS HURT. NEW HERE AT NINE. A MAJOR DECISION LAST NIGHT AT NORMAN CITY COUNCIL. AFTER HOURS OF PUBLIC COMMENTS FROM RESIDENTS IN A UNANIMOUS DECISION, COUNCIL VOTED TO REJECT THE OKLAHOMA TURNPIKE AUTHORITY FROM BUILDING NEW ROADS THROUGH CERTAIN AREAS OF NORMAN. KOCO CAMERON SIBERT HAS MORE ON THE VOTE FROM LAST NIGHT, AND THE IMPACT CAMERON. THE MEETING WAS PACKED WITH RESIDENTS, GUYS, PEOPLE WEARING RED, STANDING IN OPPOSITION OF A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE TURNPIKE AUTHORITY AND THE CITY OF NORMAN FOR YEARS, RESIDENTS HAVE SPOKEN OUT AGAINST NEW HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION. THEY SAY THEY’RE CONCERNED ABOUT HOUSES HAVING TO BE REMOVED AND WATER SOURCES BEING IMPACTED BY THE CONSTRUCTION. THEY ULTIMATELY GOT WHAT THEY WANTED ONE AFTER ANOTHER, SHARING THEIR THOUGHTS IN FRONT OF THE COUNCIL AND YOU GET TO STAND WITH THE PEOPLE OF NORMAN BASED ON FACTS AND EVIDENCE AND A GOOD BUSINESS DECISION, GOOD ECONOMIC DECISION, GOOD ENVIRONMENTAL DECISION. OR YOU CAN MAKE A POLITICALLY CORRUPT, POLITICALLY CONVENIENT DECISION LIKE GENE STIPE WOULD HAVE YOU DO. I HOPE THAT YOU STAND WITH US AND NOT GENE STIPE. YOU CAN HEAR SOME OF THE UPROAR THERE AFTER THOSE COMMENTS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING FIGHT
