Online shopping has made it easier than ever to find affordable options for premium products.
Chief National Consumer Correspondent Jeff Rossen shares hacks to find looks for less on everything, saving you hundreds of dollars.
Clothing
Amazon Lens lets you find exact matches or similar items in the Amazon app. Click the lens icon in the search bar, take a photo of the item you want, or upload a screenshot, and Amazon will show you similar items in seconds. We used Amazon Lens to find a $126 alternative to a $300 pair of dress shoes.
Cosmetics
Skinsort is a website that analyzes ingredients in skincare and makeup to help you better understand what’s in the products you buy. They have a Dupe Finder tool to help you find alternatives to pricy high-end products. We used Skinsort to find a $20 dupe to a $182 serum.
Furniture
Dupe.com uses image recognition software to find look-alike products. You can upload a screenshot on the website, or simply type “Dupe.com/” in front of any product URL. We used Dupe.com to find a $284 alternative to a $1100 accent chair.
What else to consider
As always, online shopping rules still apply. Research the place you’re buying from, check their return policies, and use a credit card for more protection.
