OVERNIGHT, THE OKLAHOMA BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, LOOKING INTO A DEADLY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING. AND WE WERE ON THAT SCENE AROUND 730 LAST NIGHT NEAR SOUTHWEST 89TH AND MUSTANG ROAD. KOCO’S AUDREY GOODSON IS LIVE THIS MORNING IN MUSTANG AUDREY GETTING SOME NEW INFORMATION FROM OFFICERS. WHAT DO WE KNOW? SO FAR? THAT’S RIGHT. WELL, THE THE INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE IS STILL LIMITED. BUT HERE IS WHAT WE DO KNOW. WE KNOW AROUND 7.30 LAST NIGHT, OFFICERS FROM THE MUSTANG POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE CALLED HERE TO DO A WELFARE CHECK. AND DURING THAT WELFARE CHECK, THAT OFFICER MADE CONTACT WITH AN ADULT MALE. DURING THAT CONTACT, A OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING OCCURRED AND CONVENIENTLY, OSBI TELLS US THE OFFICER GAVE THE MAN COMMANDS AND THE MAN CONTINUED TO COME CLOSER TO THAT OFFICER BEFORE THE SHOOTING, OFFICERS ON SCENE TRIED USING LIFESAVING MEASURES, BUT THEY SAY THE MAN DIED AT THE SCENE. THE OFFICER WAS NOT INJURED AND HAS BEEN PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE. An investigation is underway after a police officer shot and killed a suspect Thursday evening in Mustang. >> Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here.Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials told KOCO 5 that a Mustang police officer was called to the area near Southwest 89th Street and Mustang Road around 7:30 p.m. to conduct a welfare check. "During that welfare check, that officer made contact with an adult male. During that contact, an officer-involved shooting occurred," Hunter McKee with the OSBI said.During the interaction, the officer gave the man commands. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials told KOCO 5 that a Mustang police officer was called to the area near Southwest 89th Street and Mustang Road around 7:30 p.m. to conduct a welfare check.

"During that welfare check, that officer made contact with an adult male. During that contact, an officer-involved shooting occurred," Hunter McKee with the OSBI said.

During the interaction, the officer gave the man commands. The man, however, continued to come closer to the officer before the shooting, according to OSBI officials.

Officers tried using life-saving measures, but the man died at the scene. OSBI officials identified the man as Juan Barbosa, 41.
