WITH RUNNING ROOM INSIDE THE TEN HOUSE. COLE. THAT’S A LOT. I HAVE A LOT. YOU KNOW, HANNAH, OF ALL THE GREAT RUNNING BACKS TO PLAY HERE AT OSU, OLLIE GORDON IS THE FIRST ONE TO WIN THE DOAK WALKER AWARD. YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T START GIVING OUT THE AWARD UNTIL 1990. THAT’S RIGHT BARRY SANDERS JUST MISSED THE MARK. JUST BARELY. BUT SPEAKING OF OLLIE GORDON, I CAUGHT UP WITH HIS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES DOWN AT EULESS TRINITY AND THEY THINK HE WAS UNDERRATED COMING OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL WITH JUST FOUR STARS, THEY KNEW HIS SUCCESS RIGHT HERE AT OKLAHOMA STATE WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. LAST YEAR’S DOAK WALKER AWARD WINNER, OLLIE GORDON FIRST GOT HIS START IN THE DFW AREA AT EULESS TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL. DID YOU KNOW HE WAS GOING TO BE THAT BIG OF A PLAYER WHEN HE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL? WE’RE NOT SURPRISED AT ALL, REALLY. HE’S ALWAYS BEEN FROM A YOUNG AGE, ABLE TO PLAY, YOU KNOW, TO BE ADVANCED, YOU KNOW, LIKE IT’S EIGHTH OR NINTH GRADE YEAR, REALLY SEVENTH GRADE YEAR. HE WAS AS GOOD AS ANY NINTH GRADER. WE HAD. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOMENT FROM HIGH SCHOOL WHERE HE KIND OF HAD A BREAKOUT MOMENT AND YOU THOUGHT, WOW, THIS GUY IS SPECIAL. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT HIM BEFORE HIS FIRST VARSITY GAME. YOU KNOW, NO MATTER HOW READY YOU THINK KIDS ARE, YOU DON’T REALLY KNOW UNTIL THAT FIRST GAME. AND JUST BEFORE WE GOT ON THE BUS, HE SAID, I’M ABOUT TO BALL OUT. AND HE DID. YOU COULD SAY ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OLLIE GORDON, HIS CHARACTER, PERSONALITY. WHAT WOULD YOU WHAT WORD WOULD YOU USE? A COUPLE THINGS. NUMBER ONE, HE’S VERY LOYAL TO HIS FRIENDS, TO HIS COACHES, TO HIS COMMUNITY, TO TRINITY, OKLAHOMA STATE. AND THAT COMES FROM HIS MOTHER. SHE’S A GREAT LADY AND DOES GOOD, MAKES HIM WORK HARD AND DOES THOSE TYPE OF THINGS. SO LOWELL WILL BE NUMBER ONE, NUMBER TWO, OLLIE ENJOYS THE JOURNEY, WORKING HARD, PRACTICE. ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE AND DID A REALLY GREAT JOB OF UNDERSTANDING WHAT A MONDAY AND TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY LOOKED LIKE AND WORKING HARD. AND HE WAS ALWAYS FUN TO BE AROUND. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT TO SEE THIS YEAR FROM OLLIE GORDON? I THINK HE UNDERSTANDS HE’S GOING TO HAVE TO STEP IT UP. YOU KNOW, HE’S NOT A SECRET ANYMORE AND HE’S ALREADY LIVED THROUGH THAT HERE. YOU KNOW HE WAS A YOUNG KID AND AFTER ONE SEASON OF PLAYING EVERYBODY SAID WE GOT TO WE GOT TO GET READY TO STOP THAT KID. WHEN WE PLAY TRINITY, YOU KNOW. AND SO THAT WAS HIS JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEAR HERE. HE WAS A MARKED MAN. YOU KNOW, HE’S HE’
