THIS IS PRACTICAL. REPUBLICANS NOT MODERATE REPUBLICANS. PRACTICAL REPUBLICANS THAT SEE A PROBLEM THAT’S GOING ON. IT’S STATE REP MARK MCBRIDE AUTHORED THIS LETTER CURRENTLY CIRCULATING AMONG HOUSE REPUBLICANS CALLING FOR AN INVESTIGATION INTO STATE SUPERINTENDENT RYAN WALTERS. STATE REP TAMMY WEST, MAJORITY LEADER FOR THE CAUCUS, WAS A RECENT ADDITION. THE UNWILLINGNESS TO CARRY THROUGH WITH FUNDING DIRECTIVES KIND OF JUST GOING ROGUE. I THINK THAT TERM HAS BEEN USED. I DON’T THINK WE WOULD TOLERATE THIS FROM ANY OTHER AGENCY. DESPITE ADDING FIVE MORE REPUBLICANS ON WEDNESDAY, MCBRIDE IS NOT SURE IF HE’LL REACH 51, A THRESHOLD SET BY SPEAKER CHARLES MCCALL. YOU KNOW, I DON’T KNOW THAT 51 IS ATTAINABLE, BUT I THINK AT 26 THAT GETS CONCERNING TO ME. IF I WAS IN HIS SHOES, MCCALL TOLD REPUBLICAN STATE REPS. HE WON’T EVEN CONSIDER THE REQUEST UNLESS 51 REPUBLICANS SIGN ON NEARLY TWO THIRDS OF THE CAUCUS. IF THAT THRESHOLD OF 51 IS REACHED AND ALL DEMOCRATS WERE TO SIGN ON, THEY’D HAVE 71 LAWMAKERS PUSHING FOR AN INVESTIGATION. I THINK IT’S VERY CONVENIENT IF YOU DON’T WANT TO ADDRESS SOMETHING THAT YOU PUT THE THRESHOLD. SO FAR OUT THERE THAT THAT, UH, YOU CAN’T GET IT. MCBRIDE SAYS HE’LL KEEP COLLECTING SIGNATURES UNTIL REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS STOP SIGNING ON TO HIS LETTER. IT’S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER, EVEN IF THEY REACH THAT THRESHOLD OF 51, THERE’S NO GUARANTEE MCCALL WILL FORM THIS COMMITTE

OKLAHOMA CITY — Republican lawmakers are calling for an impeachment investigation into State Superintendent Ryan Walters, but has it already hit a dead end?
While 26 Republicans have signed on to a letter calling for a committee to investigate the state superintendent, the letter's author is not sure they'll reach the minimum 51 signatures that House Speaker Charles McCall demands.
"This is practical Republicans – not moderate Republicans – practical Republicans that can see a problem that's going on. It's evident," state Rep. Mark McBride said.
