WITH THIS LETTER HE WILL NOT SEEK REELECTION. HE’S HAD A TREMENDOUS CAREER. HE’S THE MOST ACCOMPLISHED PRESIDENT IN MY LIFETIME. DAVID WALTERS WAS THE OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR IN THE EARLY 90S. HE NOW SERVES AS ONE OF THE 45 PEOPLE ON THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE. HE DIDN’T SEE BIDEN AS BEST FIT TO WIN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER, SAYING THE DEBATE IN LATE JUNE WAS THE DAM BREAKER TO THE RECENT FALLOUT. HE BELIEVES, AND I BELIEVE IT’S IMPORTANT THAT DONALD TRUMP NOT SERVE AGAIN AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. AN OU POLITICAL PROFESSOR SUNDAY TOLD KOCO. THIS COULD BRING A LOT MORE EYES TO THE UPCOMING NATIONAL CONVENTION. JUST A COUPLE OF WEEKS AWAY. I DO THINK THIS GIVES THE DEMOCRATS A CHANCE TO RECONFIGURE THEIR TEAM TO COME OUT OF THE CONVENTION IN AUGUST IN A VERY EXCITED WAY, AND AND BE ABLE TO CARRY THEIR MESSAGES WITHOUT BEING DISTRACTED BY ALL THE ANTI-BIDEN STUFF, MOMENTS AFTER BIDEN ANNOUNCED HIS RACE WAS ENDING, HE GOES ON TO ENDORSE VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS. HOWEVER, WALTERS WANTS A COMPETITION FOR THAT NOMINEE SPOT RATHER THAN A CORONATION. A LITTLE COMPETITION, I THINK, MAKES THE ULTIMATE CHOICE A LOT STRONGER, BUT HE’S EXCITED FOR HER. IF SHE DOES GET NOMINATED BECAUSE THEN THE TABLES TURN AND ARGUING WHO IS BETTER FIT FOR OFFICE. I DO THINK THAT THE SCRIPT IS FLIPPED NOW AND WE CAN CALL INTO THE QUESTION INTO QUESTION. DONALD TRUMP’S AGE AND CAPACITY TO PERFORM. NOW HE IS EXPECTING MORE EYES TO BE ON THAT. THAT CONVENTION TO SEE WHO WILL GO HEAD TO HEAD AGAINST THE FORMER PRESIDENT AND NOW REPUBLICAN NOMINEE, DONALD TRUMP. NOW THAT CONVENTION STARTS ON AUGUST 18TH IN CHICAGO,

Former Gov. David Walters says he believes Biden's decision to not seek reelection is beneficial for the Democratic Party

Former Oklahoma Gov. David Walters, who served the state from 1991 to 1995, said he was relieved after President Joe Biden announced his decision to not seek reelection.Walters now serves on the executive committee of the Democratic National Committee, where he is one of 45 people who serve on the committee. He has set his focus on helping his party find its next nominee. "He's had a tremendous career. He's probably the most accomplished president in my lifetime," Walters said. Walters said did not see Biden as the best fit to win again in November, saying that the debate in late June was the dam-breaker to the recent fallout. “He believes, and I believe, it’s important that Donald Trump does not serve again as president of the United States,” Walters said. Melody Huckaby Rowlett, a University of Oklahoma political science professor, told KOCO 5 that Biden's decision could bring a lot more eyes to the upcoming national convention, which is just a few weeks away. “I do think this gives Democrats the chance to reconfigure their team, come out of the convention in August in a very excited way, and be able to carry their messages without being distracted by all the anti-Biden stuff,” Walters said. Moments after Biden announced in a letter that his race was ending, he endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Walters wants a competition for that nominee spot rather than a coronation. “A little competition makes the ultimate choice a lot stronger,” Walters said. Walters said he is excited about the possibility of Harris getting nominated, as he believes it would turn the tables in the debate over who is a better fit for office. “I do think the script is flipped now, and we can call into question Donald Trump’s age and capacity to perform,” Walters said. Walters is now expecting more eyes to be on the Democratic National Convention to see who will go head-to-head against former president and now Republican nominee Donald Trump.
