Update: Big changes to July Outlook
Newer data shows big shift in pattern
Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane shows the newest outlook for the month of July and the changes that were made.
Long range forecasting is a difficult thing to do. You look for long range patterns and the placement of high pressure ridges and low pressures across the globe. Back in June, the outlook for July showed high pressure to the west, which would help keep north winds in Oklahoma and leave our temperatures cooler than normal.
Then things started to change and high pressure was showing signs of moving to the east, and that meant we were likely going to be hot for the rest of the month.
But, now things are trending back and signs are returning that we will, once again, return to being cooler than normal for the 2nd half of July and wetter than normal, too.
It is certainly possible that by the end of the month, July will will end as being wetter and cooler than normal. Considering July is usually hot and dry, this is a wonderful outlook to have.
