Oklahoma: Newest summer outlook

Summer heat likely with rain remaining

We are now getting out of the first week of July now and the second week of July. So we're now well into the summer season. So here is your newest summer outlook that we see here in Oklahoma. We started out with temperatures below average. It was really, really wet. So this right here, this map is your temperature anomaly map. Blue means temperatures below average. Any shades of orange or red means temperatures are going to be above average. And then here's your date right here. So we're watching this cooler weather or less hot weather beginning to move out, but it looks like as we go into the second half of July, you know, for Oklahoma, it gets hot. Our average highs, by the way, are approaching the mid nineties. So we're gonna be pretty close to average in Oklahoma City *** bit above average out in western Oklahoma. But I don't see there at least being any signs of like *** massive heat wave that's gonna come through here and really just tell the story for the rest of the summer season here and even finding *** slightly below average temperature uh pool here going up into Northeastern Oklahoma. Now, as we move towards the very last week of July here, that is statistically the hottest week of the entire year, the last week of July and the first week of August temperatures, they're hot but not extremely hot here. Otherwise, as we go into the beginning of August, it looks like we will see kind of *** bit of *** heat spell move in here, temperatures hotter than normal as we go into the very end of July. Now, that could be *** pretty big deal, could very well be dealing with quite *** few upper nineties and lower one hundreds during that stretch. And that looks like that may hang around for the beginning of August here. And as we go into the month of August here, it looks like that above average temperature trend and we'll stick around. Now from *** rain standpoint here, here's your rain outlook, uh brown drier than normal, green wetter than normal. Now, we had *** good amount of rain at the very beginning of the month. Some areas picked up well over *** month's worth of rain. But when you start to go through *** bit of *** dry spell this time of the year and given just how high the sun angle is, you can really dry out the soil pretty quickly. So while we may have started out pretty wet, it looks like uh we may have *** couple opportunities for rain here and there but not *** lot until we go towards perhaps very end of July. And as we go into August now, August, we do see *** return of wetter than normal weather here. So it looks like you can probably expect that we're going to remain rather hot. It's gonna feel every bit like summer as we go towards the very end of July and going into August. But at least we'll keep the rain in the forecast. And that right there means that this summer while hot, at least it's not going to be one that's gonna stay hot and dry for the next eight weeks. We'll watch it closely for you.
