Oklahoma: Wettest location in June is unlikely area
Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane shows June rainfall and the rare area of the state that received more rain than anywhere else.
June is the 2nd wettest month of the year for Oklahoma. Right behind May and ahead of September. It's a vital month for the state to pick up heavy rain before typical summer heat and dryness rolls in for July and August.
For the Panhandle, it went just about as good as it could for rain (minus the flooding). The soaking storms for Guymon and Beaver helped eliminate a drought that was showing signs of really taking off for the region.
Unfortunately, not everyone saw the soaking rain like the Panhandle did. Parts of Western and SW Oklahoma were extremely dry. A sign that a flash drought may take off in July if we don't see some heavy storms.
For much of the OKC Metro, it was a month that saw some rain, but not a ton. Moore however did receive 2 rounds of intense rain at the start of the month that exceeded 6 inches.
