KYLIE, YOU’RE OFF HIGHWAY NINE. YEAH. AUTHORITIES SAY THE SHOOTING HAPPENED JUST BEFORE 4 A.M. THIS MORNING HERE AT THE HAMPTON WOODS APARTMENTS. THREE PEOPLE WERE HIT, AND NOW POLICE TELL US TWO TEENAGERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED. POLICE SAY A FIGHT AT THIS NORMAN APARTMENT COMPLEX LED TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE BEING SHOT, INCLUDING TWO TEENAGE BOYS JUST A MILE AND A HALF AWAY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA. AUTHORITIES SAY A 17 TEEN, 18 AND 21 YEAR OLD MAN WERE SHOT. IT’S STILL NOT CLEAR IF THE VICTIMS WERE STUDENTS. THIS AS OFFICERS WERE RESPONDING TO THE SCENE. WE STARTED TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL CALLS INTO OUR COMMUNICATION CENTER FROM VICTIMS THAT HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING. THE TWO VICTIMS WERE HOSPITALIZED WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES, WHILE THE THIRD REFUSED MEDICAL HELP. POLICE SAY TWO TEENS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED. A 17 YEAR-OLD WAS ARRESTED FOR THREE COUNTS OF ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AFTER A FELONY CONVICTION AND POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE. ANOTHER 18. YEAR-OLD WAS ARRESTED WITH ONE COUNT OF ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED DANGEROUS SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WHILE COMMITTING A FELONY. Three people, including two teenagers, were injured after a shooting at a Norman apartment complex early Monday morning. Just before 4 a.m., authorities said the shooting happened at the Hampton Woods Apartments. Three men were hit, and police were working to piece together what happened. The Norman Police Department said a fight at the complex, just a mile and a half away from the University of Oklahoma, injured a 17, 18 and 21-year-old. It wasn't clear if the victims were students at the university. “As officers were responding to the scene, we started to receive additional calls into our communications center from victims that had been involved in the shooting," Sarah Schettler, the public information officer with the Norman Police Department, said. Two victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third person refused medical help. Police said two teenagers were arrested in the shooting. A 17-year-old was arrested for three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. Another 18-year-old was arrested on one count of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.“Investigators are actively talking to witnesses, those who are in custody as well, to determine exactly what happened," Schettler said. Police said both teens have been booked into the Cleveland County jail.
