WELL IT DOES GET ESPECIALLY LOUD WHEN THE SOONERS OR COWGIRLS ARE PLAYING, BUT OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH PATTY GASSO SAYS THERE’S NOTHING UNFAIR ABOUT IT. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE SERIES IS HERE TO STAY ON THE BIGGEST STAGE IN COLLEGE SOFTBALL. ALL THE STADIUM THIS 15,000 PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, THIS IS A WE’RE GOING TO WAR OUT THERE IN BETWEEN THOSE LINES EVERY SINGLE DAY. PLAYERS SAY THE CROWD GIVES THEM ENERGY. 28 MILES SEPARATE THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA AND DEVON PARK, WHILE 59 MILES STAND BETWEEN OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE MOST COVETED FIELD IN THE SPORT. SO IS IT AN ADVANTAGE FOR OKLAHOMA TEAMS TO BE PLAYING IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD? TEXAS SOFTBALL’S HEAD COACH MIKE WHITE TOLD THE AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, QUOTE, IT’S A HUGE ADVANTAGE, OBVIOUSLY, FOR OKLAHOMA. EVERY COACH WHO STEPS ON THE DIAMOND NOTICES THE CROWD HERE IS TOUGH. IT’S A TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY. NO SECRET IT’S TO AN ADVANTAGE. THEY’VE A LOT OF THESE TEAMS HERE, EVERYONE BUT US HAS BEEN HERE BEFORE. THAT OBVIOUSLY WORKS IN THEIR FAVOR. DUKE FANS TOLD KOCO THEY THINK THE CROWD HAD AN IMPACT AS THEY PLAYED OKLAHOMA THURSDAY. I THINK, OF COURSE THERE IS HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE FOR OKLAHOMA. I MEAN, WE’RE ABOUT AS CLOSE AS WE COULD BE TO NORMAN, BUT I THINK THAT ALSO COMES WITH THE STATUS OF BEING THE SOONERS. YET OKLAHOMA’S HEAD COACH PATTY GASSO, SAYS THE CONTRACT BETWEEN DEVON PARK AND THE NCAA WASN’T IN THE HANDS OF OKLAHOMA OR OKLAHOMA STATE, BUT IT WAS DECIDED BY THE RESIDENTS OF OKLAHOMA CITY. WELL, IT’S NO DOUBT THAT SOONER FANS COME OUT, BUT IF YOU HAVE IT IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA, FANS ARE GOING TO COME OUT. WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE IT? WHO’S GOT A 15,000 PLUS STADIUM TO HAVE IT? SO I MEAN, THERE’S NOTHING WE CAN DO. IT’S NOT OUR FAULT. IT’S NO ONE’S FAULT EXCEPT IT’S THE PEOPLE OF OKLAHOMA CITY THAT PUT IT IN THE MONEY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. NOW, COACH GASSO SAID THAT OKLAHOMA FANS WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SERIES. BEING HERE IN OKLAHOMA CITY, AS LONG AS THEY CAN. FANS HERE THAT WE TALKED TO SAY THAT, YOU KNOW, NO MATTER WHERE IT GOES, IF OSU AND OSU ARE PLAYING THERE FOLLOWING THIS SERIES
