The three men – Davantae Winters, Hector Hernandez, and Michael Brown – managed to break out of the jail overnight on Thursday. Authorities are wondering how that happened, but they say the three worked together to get out.
"We don’t think they had outside help until they got out of the jail," Adkins said. "We think they might have been helped by some possible relationships that might have had on the outside as far as helping them get out of town."
Winters faces murder charges. His escape has caused fear within the community; however, law enforcement is determined to get all three men back behind bars.
"We do consider all three of them dangerous at this point,” Adkins said. “So, if anybody was to see them, call in. Don’t try to approach them or anything like that.”
The current focus of the investigation is determining the whereabouts of the three men. Oklahoma City is being considered as a potential location.
"Some of the information I got even said that they might try to get a plane out of the state. So, I’ve actually contacted TSA,” Adkins said. “They’ve got BOLOs out for all the airports and everything at this point.”
Despite the escape, Adkins doesn’t think the trio pose a threat to the public.
"I don’t think they’d be a threat to the people unless they try to make contact with them. I think these guys are going to more be like trying to get out of sight out of mind,” Adkins said.
Authorities are unsure if the men are still together. They urge residents from Anadarko to Oklahoma City to be on the lookout for all of them.
