A tornado devastated the northeastern Oklahoma city of Barnsdall late Monday night, killing at least one person.
Mayor John Kelley confirmed that a person died after the tornado hit Barnsdall, and two people are unaccounted for. Information about the person who died has not been released.
Sky 5 flew over Barnsdall on Tuesday, with Pilot Chase Rutledge saying the tornado left a "definite path of destruction."
Oklahoma Emergency Management officials said 30 to 40 homes were damaged, with Kelley adding that several homes were leveled. Sky 5 showed that numerous homes were destroyed, with some houses only having their foundation remaining.
Several other structures and businesses also were hit by the tornado.
“Toughest thing on me as mayor, this is a small community,” Kelley said. “I know 75-80% of this town. The individual we lost I know very well, and it’s pretty tough.”
