Osage County sees damage during tornado emergency Monday night
While this is outside the KOCO 5 viewing area, a tornado emergency is a very significant warning that should be taken seriously

COMING UP IN YOUR NEXT WEATHER. ON THE FIVES. TAYLOR. THANK YOU. AND OUR TEAM WAS IN LAST NIGHT COVERING SEVERAL TORNADOES AND SEVERE STORMS ACROSS THE STATE WITH CREWS ACROSS THE METRO. IN THE SKY AND ON THE GROUND BRINGING YOU THE VERY LATEST, MAKING SURE THAT YOU WERE PREPARED. NOW, THOSE STORMS LAST NIGHT LEAVING BEHIND DAMAGE. KOCO KYLIE THOMAS. REPORTING NEAR DOUGLAS, SHOWING US JUST HOW STRONG THESE STORMS WERE. WE’RE EAST OF DOUGLAS ON A FAMILY’S PROPERTY WHERE THOSE STRONG WINDS BLEW OVER A MASSIVE OVERHEAD. FEEDING TANK, COMPLETELY KNOCKING IT OVER THOSE WINDS. THEN SENDING ONE OF THOSE TANKS, 100FT INTO THAT FAMILY’S PROPERTY, NEARLY INTO THE HOME, AND LANDING IN FRONT OF THAT FAMILY’S STORM SHELTER. THANKFULLY, THE FAMILY WAS INSIDE THE STORM SHELTER AT THE TIME, AND NO ONE WAS HURT. REPORTING IN DOUGLAS KYLIE THOMAS KOCO FIVE NEWS. AND DOUGLAS IS NOT THE ONLY AREA THAT SAW DAMAGE. KOCO ELISE JONES BRINGS US THE LATEST FROM DEL CITY AS FIRE CREWS THERE WORK TO REMOVE A POWER LINES FROM THE ROAD. WE’RE ON SOUTHEAST 15TH STREET, JUST EAST OF SUNNYLANE ROAD NEAR I-40. YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE’S DOWNED POWER LINES RIGHT HERE, JUST PAST THIS STOP SIGN. NOW, THIS IS RIGHT NEAR PATRIOT PARK HERE IN DEL CITY. IF YOU LOOK DOWN. THE ROAD HERE, THERE’S FIRE CREWS THAT ARE HERE. THEY’VE BEEN PICKING UP THESE POWER LINES OUT OF THE ROAD. THE ROAD WAS SHUT DOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND TRAFFIC WAS DIVERTED IN THE AREA. JUST AS THEY TRIED TO KEEP PEOPLE OFF OF THE ROAD. THIS IS ONE OF JUST MULTIPLE PLACES LIKE THIS WITH THESE POWER LINES BLOCKING THE STREETS. THERE’S SOME TREE LIMBS DOWN, THINGS LIKE THAT HERE IN DEL CITY. SO WE’RE JUST TAKING A LOOK AT ALL OF THAT DAMAGE. AND OF COURSE, WE’LL BRING YOU THE LATEST AND DEL CITY ALYSE JONES KOCO FIVE NEWS IN. AT LEAST ONE PERSON IS DEAD AFTER A TORNADO MOVED THROUGH BARNSDALL, WHICH IS JUST NORTH OF TULSA. THIS IS VIDEO FROM OUR PARTNER STATION, KOCO KAI. NOW YOU CAN SEE THAT HOMES WERE JUST DEMOLISHED AND IS REPORTING THAT AT LEAST 30 TO 40 HOMES WERE DAMAGED THERE, AND THE NATURAL GAS LEAK HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED IN THE AREA. CURRENTLY, ONLY EMERGENCY AND FIRST RESPONDERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THROUGH. AND WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO BRING YOU THE LATEST AS WE GET MORE INFORMATION FROM THERE AND ALSO IN THE TULSA AREA, BARTLESVILLE SUSTAINED SOME DAMAGE AFTER A TORNADO MOVED THROUGH THERE. WE HAVE SOME VIDEO OF THE HAMPTON INN HOTEL, WHICH WAS DAMAGED AS WELL. WE HAD SOME DAMAGE REPORTED THERE TO THE SHEET METAL AND TO THE SIGN, WHICH YOU CAN SEE RIGHT NOW. CREWS ARE STILL ASSESSING THE SITUATION AND ARE WORKING. TO CLEAR ROADWAYS. WE ALL KNEW IT WAS COMING, BUT. A tornado emergency was issued Monday night as a tornado tore through Barnsdall in northeast Oklahoma. Just after 9 p.m., a tornado warning was issued for the Barnsdall area, which is located southeast of Pawhuska and southwest of Bartlesville. By 9:40 p.m., a tornado emergency was issued for the town, and the storm continued moving up towards Bartlesville. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said at least 30-40 homes were damaged in the Barnsdall area after a tornado emergency was issued in the area.The Osage County Sheriff's Office told Tulsa-area television station Fox 23 that a person died after the severe storms hit Barnsdall. Information about the victim has not been released.Oklahoma Highway Patrol was assisting with rescues as people may be stuck inside of their storm shelters. There was also a large gas leak reported in the area. KOCO 5 Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane says a tornado emergency means there was a confirmed, large tornado that could be deadly moving through the area.
