Our state is no stranger to tornadoes. We know the protocols. We know the warning signs. But that doesn't make it any easier when devastation hits.
The scenes from Sky 5 this week have been almost unbelievable. Downtown Sulphur was turned into rubble. Homes and roofs were torn off not just in Sulphur but also in Cordell and Marietta.
Others were in Holdenville, with nothing left but the spot where a family was huddled inside.
"We were getting in the cellar when we heard this tremendous crash sound," Holdenville resident Julia Keesee said.
Thankfully, Keesee and her family made it into that cellar safely.
Everyone wasn't as fortunate. Four people lost their lives, and hundreds of people were injured. We grieve collectively for those families.
Oklahomans, of course, wanted to help. So, KOCO 5 partnered with the Red Cross to get relief in the hands of those who need it. If you'd like to help, click here to learn more.
Cash donations are the best and easiest way to help, and any amount is appreciated.
