A dramatic reunion was had between a mother and her children Tuesday at Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport, but it wasn't the entire family.
Valerie Watson, an Oklahoma mom, hugged her kids for the first time since she was stuck for weeks in another country facing criminal charges after a vacation turned into a nightmare. Her husband is still behind bars and getting help from high-ranking Oklahomans to come home.
Watson said the fight isn't over, and she is going to work to get her imprisoned husband home.
"We know that God’s still working and he’s working through us," Watson said.
KOCO 5 was there as Watson had the emotional reunion with her children, Van and Ellie, after flying home to Oklahoma.
"I’ve been thinking about this moment for a while, and I didn’t know when it was going to happen. I was prepared to also be arrested yesterday," Watson said.
Watson and her husband Ryan were held in Turks and Caicos after bullets were found in their luggage. The couple said they were inadvertently left in there after a hunting trip.
The situation was a serious offense on the islands, with a minimum prison sentence of 12 years. Officials released Watson on Monday, but they locked her husband up.
Watson said she has been anticipating the moment of embracing her children.
"I don't know if I even have words to describe it, just getting to hold them again. It just filled my momma heart and made me so happy," Watson said. "It just gives me a lot of comfort knowing that I get to be here with them now, but my wife heart is still breaking because Ryan is not with me."

The Watsons have some help in their fight. KOCO 5 got a copy of a letter Gov. Kevin Stitt sent to government officials in Turks and Caicos on April 16. He called Ryan an "avid outdoorsman," arguing the ammunition was an oversight, not an attempt to break the law.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin's office also told KOCO 5 that they have been in touch with the family and are doing everything they can to get them home.
"A routine has never sounded better, but our life is different, and our goal is to get Ryan home, because we can’t be a family without dad," Watson said.
A GoFundMe was also set up to help the family as this unfolds.
