Police released the identity of a man who was shot and killed during an argument last week at a southeast Oklahoma City home.
Around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a reported shooting near Southeast 29th Street and High Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot inside the home.
The man was taken to OU Health, where police said he was pronounced dead. The Oklahoma City Police Department identified him as Charles Edgar Johnson III, 27.
Police said investigators learned an altercation broke out, which led to the shooting. Detectives interviewed all parties involved, including the shooter.
"When officers arrived, they found one person there suffering from a gunshot wound," MSgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department, said. "It appears that some sort of altercation broke out inside of the residence."
Police at the scene told KOCO 5 that a married couple and a child were inside with the victim, but the relationship between them hasn't been announced. Officers said the victim pulled out a gun, which is when the homeowner shot him.
The Oklahoma City Police Department says the district attorney will decide if the shooting was a case of self-defense and if charges will be filed. Police said no arrests have been made.
