Dry Sundays are a thing of the past in Canadian County after residents approved a measure to repeal a decades-old law on Tuesday.
A longstanding law has restricted restaurants in Canadian County from selling "liquor by the drink" between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays. For years, restaurants and bars were forced to shut their doors on Sundays, pushing customers and dollars to surrounding areas like Oklahoma City.
With the proposition's passage, Canadian County bars and restaurants will be allowed to sell alcohol during those hours. Customers also will be able to order an alcoholic beverage during brunch.
With all precincts reporting, preliminary results showed that 59% of voters said "yes" to the proposition.
