WITH THE ORGANIZER LEADING THIS EFFORT. IT IS A VICTORY TODAY FOR HARDWORKING OKLAHOMA WHO NEED THIS BALLOT MEASURE TO MOVE FORWARD. SUPPORTERS OF STATE QUESTION 832 SAY THE OKLAHOMA SUPREME COURT HAS RULED IT IS CONSTITUTIONAL, MEANING THE EFFORT CAN MOVE FORWARD IF PASSED BY VOTERS. IT WOULD RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $9 AN HOUR IN 2025, THEN GRADUALLY INCREASE IT EVERY YEAR BY $1.50 UNTIL IT REACHES $15 AN HOUR. IN 2029, WE WOULD HAVE 90 DAYS TO COLLECT SIGNATURES. WE NEED TO GET AROUND 92,000, BUT THERE ARE OTHER STEPS THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN. FIRST, THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE HAS TO PROVIDE A DATE WHEN THE GROUP CAN START COLLECTING THOSE SIGNATURES, AND IF THEY GET ALL 92,000, THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE WOULD COUNT THOSE SIGNATURES. AND THEN A BALLOT TITLE WOULD BE, UM, THERE WOULD BE A BALLOT TITLE ISSUED, AND THEN THE GOVERNOR WOULD ISSUE A PROCLAMATION ON OR IT WOULD BE PLACED ON THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT. PREVIOUSLY, THE STATE CHAMBER ARGUED AGAINST THE STATE QUESTION, POINTING TO RESEARCH THEY SAY SHOWS RAISING MINIMUM WAGE WOULD HURT LOCALPBUSINESSES BUT ENGLAND SAYS IT’S SIMPLY TIME STATES SURROUNDING US HAVE ALREADY INCREASED THEIR MINIMUM WAGE. UH, ARKANSAS RAISED THEIR MINIMUM WAGE TO $12 AN HOUR. THERE ISN’T A SET DATE FOR THE PETITION TO OPEN YET, BUT ENGLAND SAYS IT COULD BE AS EA
