NEWLYWEDS ACCUSED OF LEADING POLICE ON A HIGH SPEED PURSUIT. THE GROOM NOW BEHIND BARS. WELL, THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY EVENING IN MAYES COUNTY. PRYOR CREEK POLICE SAY AN OFFICER TRIED TO PULL OVER A DRIVER FOR FAILING TO STAY IN HIS LANE. AND INSTEAD OF. PULLING OVER, THEY SAY HE TOOK OFF. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER WAS GOING UP TO 135MPH. EVEN FORCED ANOTHER CAR OFF THE ROAD, WE’RE TOLD A GRAND RIVER DAM AUTHORITY OFFICER DEPLOYED STOP STICKS AND THAT THE SUSPECT PULLED OVER BEHIND A BUSINESS AND RAN AWAY. Authorities say newlyweds led police on a high-speed chase Monday evening in northeastern Oklahoma, landing the groom in jail.Get the latest news stories of interest by clicking here.An affidavit states that around 6:20 on Monday, an officer with the Pryor Creek Police Department tried to pull over a yellow Ford Mustang after he saw the vehicle fail to maintain its lane on North U.S. Highway 69. The driver didn't stop and sped off at a high rate of speed, according to the affidavit.The officer engaged in a pursuit at speeds as high as 125-135 mph. The affidavit states that the Mustang passed several other vehicles on the road as well as the shoulder.A Grand River Dam Authority police officer deployed his spike sticks at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and West 430 Road.
