Evacuations have been ordered for the Gage and Shattuck area after large wildfires moved across northwestern Oklahoma.
The KOCO wildfire blog has ended for the evening. Below are updates from fires across northwest Oklahoma on Tuesday.
10:20 p.m. Tuesday Update: KOCO First Alert Storm Chaser Shane Helton says fire crews out by Gage will likely be working to contain the flames throughout the night.
9:20 p.m. Tuesday Update: At least two homes and several vehicles have burned in the Gage area after a wildfire ravaged through the area. First Alert Storm Command was on the scene.
9:15 p.m. Tuesday Update: Kay County Emergency Management released information on a large wildfire north of Newkirk at the Oklahoma-Kansas state line.
9 p.m. Tuesday Update:
The Newkirk Fire Chief stressed to residents that there is no need for Newkirk residents to evacuate. The emergency alert issued was for Chilocco and 7 Clans Casino.
8:40 p.m. Tuesday Update: An emergency alert in Kay County said a dangerous wildfire is crossing into the county, spreading quickly to the south. Residents were asked to evacuate.
8 p.m. Tuesday Update: Oklahoma Highway Patrol said SH 46 and E County Road 51 in Shattuck and E County Road 56 and OK-46 in Arnett are back open after closing for more than two hours.
7:35 p.m. Tuesday Update: The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management sent an update on the fires in northwest Oklahoma.
The State Department of Health reported one person was injured in the fires. The person was someone responding to the fires who had a heat-related illness.
"The State Emergency Operations Center received 29 fire reports from local jurisdictions in 15 counties. Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) has supported 32 uncontained fires across the state. OFS reports more than 30,000 acres have burned," said the update from the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management.
Evacuation shelters are open at the following locations:
- Fort Supply Baptist Church, 219 Sheridan, Fort Supply, OK
- Roger Mills County Courthouse, 500 E Broadway, Cheyenne, OK
- Vici Community Room, 604 Main Street, Vici, OK
- Woodward Conference Center, 3401 Centennial Drive, Woodward, OK
7:10 p.m. Tuesday Update: Deputies have traffic shut down at the Hitching Post near OK-30 and OK-33 in Roger Mills County, according to OHP.
6:50 p.m. Tuesday Update: Woodward County Emergency Manager Matt Lehenbauer says conditions are slightly improving across western Oklahoma, with some fires dying down.
6 p.m. Tuesday Update: Officials say the Ellis County resident trapped in their basement when their home caught fire is now safe.
5:55 p.m. Tuesday Update: Oklahoma Highway Patrol said there are road closures in Roger Mills County due to wildfires. Those roads include OK-33 at the Texas and Oklahoma state line near N 1680 Road.
5:35 p.m. Tuesday Update: Oklahoma Highway Patrol said multiple roadways were shut down due to the wildfires, including SH 46 and E County Road 51 in Shattuck, as well as E County Road 56 and OK-46 in Arnett.
5:15 p.m. Tuesday Update: Those in Oklahoma City could be seeing smoke in the air that has blown in from western Oklahoma. Open the link below for more.

5:10 p.m. Tuesday Update: First Alert Storm Chaser Shane Helton provides an update on the wildfires in northwestern Oklahoma. He shows where a house survived the fires despite being in the path.
4:50 p.m. Tuesday Update: Woodward County Emergency Manager Matt Lehenbauer said a 911 call was placed in Ellis County, saying a person was trapped in a basement with their home on fire. Crews were working to help those people as wildfires continue.
4:23 p.m. Tuesday Update: Evacuations are underway for the Gage and Shattuck area. Authorities say the shelter location will be at Fort Supply Baptist Church, which is located at 219 Sheridan in Fort Supply.
3:25 p.m. Tuesday Updates: The fire, which has been named the "Smokehouse Creek Fire," caused mandatory evacuations for Hemphill, Texas, which borders Oklahoma. The flames from that wildfire crossed into Oklahoma near Shattuck.
The National Weather Service issued a fire warning for northwestern Ellis County as the fire continues into Catesby, Oklahoma. Authorities say the dangerous wildfire was 3 miles southeast of Catesby and was moving rapidly 3-5 miles.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said U.S. Highway 283 and County Road 37 to State Highway 15 west are closed because of the wildfire.
National Weather Service officials urge people to not drive into areas of smoke. They also say if an evacuation order is issued, people should follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials.
