A student died after a hit-and-run crash that happened Thursday morning on the north side of Oklahoma State University's campus.

Shortly after 10 a.m., OSU Campus Safety issued an alert stating that university police were investigating an accident at Monroe Street and Cantwell Avenue. University officials later said they were searching for a white, four-door pickup truck, possibly a newer-model Chevrolet, that had left the scene.
Authorities said the pickup was last seen leaving north on Washington Avenue and had damage to the driver's side front bumper.
Oklahoma State University and Stillwater police identified a 22-year-old person of interest and took them into custody.
OSU President Kayse Shrum released a statement on the social media platform X, confirming the person hit was a student.
"On behalf of the Cowboy family, our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, classmates and professors. If you need support following this tragic event, know that OSU has many resources available to help you," Shrum said.
OSU police confirmed that the student killed was a family member of a Stillwater police officer.
